Researchers from the University of Rochester, the University of Essex, England, and the University of California Santa Barbara have published the results of a study confirming that homophobes are actually deeply closeted homosexuals themselves. This is something that almost any gay person would agree with, and now that the research has been done, I’m happy to admit that I was right. <—always happy to admit this
Homophobia is more pronounced in individuals with an unacknowledged attraction to the same sex and who grew up with authoritarian parents who forbade such desires, a series of psychology studies demonstrates.
“Individuals who identify as straight but in psychological tests show a strong attraction to the same sex may be threatened by gays and lesbians because homosexuals remind them of similar tendencies within themselves,” explains Netta Weinstein, a lecturer at the University of Essex and the study’s lead author.
“In many cases these are people who are at war with themselves and they are turning this internal conflict outward,” adds co-author Richard Ryan, professor of psychology at the University of Rochester who helped direct the research.
There were four different studies that were done and the entire report from ScienceDaily is actually rather revealing and interesting. Again, something that has been assumed by many for a while, but now we have science on our side to explain that this is the truth. While I should be happy, I’m actually rather disturbed by these findings. All this means is that people are so ashamed of who they are that they try to mask their identity by abusing those who have had a similar path but chose to accept who they were as opposed to hiding this. Damaged, closeted homosexuals hating those who were able to overcome hate and prejudice.

The results are in from a 20-year study of marijuana smokers; Smoking pot does not harm the lungs! I know it sounds crazy, but apparently this is only true for those of us who only smoke about once or twice a week. Sadly, I don’t fall into this category, but there is still some good news for those os us who enjoy medicating on the daily:
The results, from the 20-year study on the health effects of marijuana, are hazier for heavy users — those who smoke two or more joints daily for several years.
The data suggest that using marijuana that often might cause a decline in lung function, but there weren’t enough heavy users among the 5,000 young adults in the study to draw firm conclusions.
A small decline does not discourage me from using marijuana, especially because most everything in our body tends to decline with age. It’s the chemicals in cigarettes that really do the harm, and seeing as marijuana and tobacco only share a few of the same chemicals, the results differ.
The findings echo results in some smaller studies that showed while marijuana contains some of the same toxic chemicals as tobacco, it does not carry the same risks for lung disease.
Awesome, let’s go roll a blunt and enjoy our lives.
***Unlike cigarette smokers, marijuana users tend to breathe in deeply when they inhale a joint, which some researchers think might strengthen lung tissue. But the common lung function tests used in the study require the same kind of deep breathing that marijuana smokers are used to, so their good test results might partly reflect lots of practice, said Kertesz, a drug abuse researcher and preventive medicine specialist at the Alabama university.***

I initially wanted to post this to gloat about the fact that lesbians are better parents than, well, everyone! And to be honest, that’s still the reason I decided to post this. For all of you Conservative folks who believe that homosexuals are the people corrupting society, I’d like for you to crawl off your fucking high horse and explain this:
The U.S. National Longitudinal Lesbian Family Study (NLLFS) just released its resultson its 24-year long study on families with lesbian parents, finding that not one of the 78 adolescents in the study had reported being sexually or physically abused by their parents. This compares to 26% of American adolescents overall who report parent or caregiver physical abuse. 8.3% report sexual abuse.
What?! The lesbians aren’t beating, molesting or raping their children?! Then they must be turning them all gay, right? I mean, there has to be some sort of explanation about why lesbians can’t be loving parents who raise normal children in a normal environment (minus a penis as head of household).
Additionally, only 2.8% of the adolescents in the study identified themselves as gay. Apparently the majority of them didn’t catch their parents’ gayness.
Oh shit…. a lot of them turn out straight too?! Okay, so far, it seems as though the most well-rounded children who have not been abused come from lesbian households. This must mean that whatever the lesbians in this country are doing for their children is working and providing them with a wonderful home to grow and develop within. Sadly, this is so far from what many children in this country have, yet their parents are more respect in the eyes of government. How pathetic.
If half the kids in this country had parents with such results, we may have a more prosperous and less emotionally disturbed society. Unfortunately, there are far too many people who would still fight for gays and lesbians to not be allowed to raise children because it is ‘immoral’ and ‘sacrilegious’, despite the findings of this study. People who choose to ignore the facts and fight for morality (which I feel is a matter of opinion) are the people who have been trusted to lead this country, yet don’t represent a huge group of people who bring greatness to this country. For that, I am embarrassed and unenthusiastic.

A new study that has been done in Africa, has has ground-breaking results. In the Los Angeles Times, they share that “two studies in Africa have shown that a daily pill containing either one or two anti- HIV drugs can reduce transmission of the virus by as much as three-quarters among heterosexual couples.”
There was such a good response that they even stopped the study early, and gave all of the participants the new pill. Although, this isn’t a solution to the problem of having HIV, it is a great preventative tool that may be able to be used by many in the future. They have already established that the pills are available in nearly 25 countries at as little as 25 cents/pill.

I am a smoker and have been for quite some years. Recently, I have begun trying the Blu Cigarette, which is water vapor with nicotine and has helped me (somewhat) to stop smoking AS MUCH. When I explained to people that I was attempting to quit using this method, many people asked why I hadn’t tried the drug Chantix yet? I’m going to be honest here. I like to smoke and if I can at least continue the act without hurting my lungs, that sounds more appealing than having to sit with smokers and engage in nothing. Also, I didn’t want to go to a doctor and be prescribed medicine for a problem that I knew I could willingly quit…at some point.
Now, I’m very happy with my stubborn addictive ways, because the verdict is out on Chantix, and it’s not good. Not only has the drug been linked to intense aggressiveness and violence, but it has also been linked to other issues as well, such as heart problems, suicidal thoughts (as well as actions), and etc. “Chantix has been banned by the Federal Aviation Administration for pilots and air-traffic controllers because it may cause loss of consciousness and blackouts. Truck and bus drivers are also not allowed to take the drug.” (CNN)
A drug with this many problems should not be prescribed to the nearly 7 million people that it has been, in the United States alone. I’ll go ahead and stick to my water vapor cig and lessened chance of heart attack, suicide, murder, irregular heart beat, etc.
