Run My Mood Away

Being optimistic and happy are two mottos that I usually attempt to live by. Unfortunately, this isn’t always the reality. Without sadness, depression, feelings of worthlessness, etc., one wouldn’t grasp how great the rest of life truly is. Like I said, I try my hardest to be positive and not stress the small stuff, but some days that is harder than others.

I have a good job, I’m engaged and planning a wedding, I own my home, I have 3 awesome dogs, my friends and family are amazing, we’re keeping up with our bills (the most stressful thing ever ha), yet, I’m having difficulty shaking this crappy ass mood of mine. I feel unfulfilled and can’t pin down what it is that’s making me feel this way. Regardless, I wouldn’t want to be around me like this (that’s a lie, I’m still awesome), and therefore, I must do something.

Instead of letting this mood take me over, and just accepting that this is how I feel, I WILL do something about it. No, I’m not going to cry in the bathroom stall (again) or anything absolutely fucking insane, but maybe something as simple as working out? Granted, I should be doing this anyway, but it might be a nice idea to get my mind focused on something else. I might also be in a better mood if I were smoking hot. So, yes, this definitely needs to happen.

GETTING INTO SHAPE, GETTING  SMOKING HOT AND KILLING THIS DEPRESSION STARTS… NOW!

The Most Devoted Pet: German Shepherd Stays By His Dead Owner’s Grave For 6 Years

article-2202509-14FDAC27000005DC-124_634x475

DailyMail -

A faithful dog has refused to leave the side of his dead master’s grave for six years, it was reported today. German shepherd, Capitan, ran away from home after the death of Argentinian, Miguel Guzman, in 2006. A week later, Mr Guzman’s family went to pay their respects and found the heartbroken pet sitting by his owner’s grave, wailing.

Since then the grieving dog has rarely left the spot at the cemetery in the town of Villa Carlos Paz, central Argentina. Mr. Guzman bought Capitan as a present for his 13-year-old son, Damian, in 2005. Damian’s father died suddenly in March the next year, but by the time his family had returned home from the funeral, Capitan was gone.

‘We searched for him but he had vanished. We thought he must have got run over and died.

‘The following Sunday we went to the cemetery and Damian recognised his pet. Capitan came up to us, barking and wailing, as if he were crying.’

‘We had never taken him to the cemetery so it is a mystery how he managed to find the place.

‘We went back the next Sunday, and he was there again. This time, he followed us home and spent a bit of time with us, but then went back to the cemetery before it started getting dark.

‘I don’t think he wanted to leave Miguel on his own at night.’

The cemetery’s director Hector Baccega remembers the day he first saw the dog.

‘He turned up here one day, all on his own, and started wandering all around the cemetery until he eventually found the tomb of his master.

‘During the day he sometimes has a walk around the cemetery, but always rushes back to the grave. And every day, at six o’clock sharp, he lies down on top of the grave stays there all night.’

[VIDEO] Bus Monitor, Karen Huff Klein, Mercilessly Bullied By Middle-Schoolers

article-2162443-13B58E8D000005DC-616_306x423

As I was watching this video I grew absolutely disgusted with humanity, especially kids at this age. I remember being in middle school/high school and constantly having people talk about myself and/or others without having any real clue as to who they were, inside, not out. These ignorant, cocky, insecure middle-schoolers thought it would be funny to make fun of a woman just because of how she looked and her unwillingness to give into their taunts, and retaliate. When you see a video like this, it makes you better understand why it is that bullying is such a huge issue for kids these days.

Klein is a 68-year-old woman that has been through a lot in her life, and although the taunting offended her, she has received support from many people around the world who have contributed nearly $300,000 to her after seeing this video that has gone viral. Unfortunately, kids who are bullied have to deal with children teasing them like this on a daily basis and have no outlet. Why is it that we lack compassion at a young age and don’t respect our elders? I know times have changed, and in a lot of ways, for the better; Sadly, the attitudes of most pre-teens/teens has been one of the most disappointing outcomes of our growth as a society.

Karen Huff Klein is a hard-working individual that has been employed by the same school district for over 23 years. Annually, she makes around $15,000 which doesn’t even compare with the amount of donations she’s received from donors across the country. The fund was initiated because someone believed this woman needed a vacation, especially after seeing what hell she’s been put through. At one point in the video, a child says “You’re so ugly, your kids should kill themselves.’ One of Mrs. Klein’s sons had killed himself 10 years earlier. It’s shit like this that these kids don’t know and are unaware of how what they says may affect her. Instead of teaching these kids mathematics and history that isn’t really all that true, we might want to give them basic lessons in human interaction, compassion, understanding and being kind.

At the 6 and a half minute mark, a student said: ‘If I stabbed you in the stomach, my knife would f***** go through like butter, because it’s all f***** lard.’

Klein is very appreciative for what the random donors have done for her, but what she’d really like is an apology from the four students that made her cry and humiliated her.

Asshole Ted Shuttleworth, Former ‘NYPD Blue’ Writer, Punches Poodle In Face and Dog Dies From Injury

s-TED-SHUTTLEWORTH-large

Ted Shuttleworth is a former screenwriter who previously worked on ‘NYPD Blue‘ and has just recently been arrested for cruelty to animals. Apparently, he punched his poodle so hard in the face that it led to a brain injury that it was unable to live with, and passed away. Shuttleworth could face up to a year in prison if convicted of the crime he has been charged with.

His wife tells the newspaper that the dog’s death was a “horrible accident.”

I am sorry but I have never accidentally punched a dog so hard in the face that I caused a traumatic brain injury and death. This guys is a complete douche and deserves whatever punishment comes his way… In fact, I believe he deserves more.

[UPDATED] [VIDEO] Who Is Joseph Kony? PLEASE SHARE! It Is Important!

joseph-kony

(For everyone who read up on KONY, please be aware that the Invisible Children Organization has their own skeletons in the closet. Not only do they work with Sudan People’s Liberation Army (who has a similar reputation as the LRA), they also exaggerate the statistics and refuse to let the BBB look into their operation. While I love that they raised awareness, I don’t know if their organization is what we should support, but rather the people of Africa as well as humanity. Research and awareness takes time and effort while following the majority takes nothing. Be aware and continue on fighting!)

When I first sat down to watch this amazing film, I had no idea what I was getting myself in for and very little knowledge on what it would actually be about. I must admit that a range of emotions have since overwhelmed me and I can’t help but to feel ashamed, saddened, angry, bitter, hopeless, hopeful, but more than anything, I am happy to feel compassion for humanity.

Joseph Kony is a despicable man coward, that preys on those who can’t fight him, controls their will, desires, AND freedom, all to gain nothing but power and superiority over the masses. What bothered me even more that Kony himself was the carelessness and inhumane way that OUR government, the Unites States of America, reacted when they first heard the pleas of this filmmaker (who is truly, much more than that). Financially and socially not a big enough issue for us to get involved?! Excuse me, but are you fucking serious?! Thank goodness you though otherwise during the time of Hitler or we may be a much different world today.

The film brings great insight into the advantages of technology in the modern world and how we, as a people, can use this to our advantage. No longer should the politicians, 1%, and media have the say in who or what we fight for, but rather, the people, are the ones who can now make decisions on a global level. Please watch this film and find a way to be a part of the change in our system! Don’t fight for America, fight for humanity!

UPDATE March 7th, 2012 at 3:05PM: I was hoping to do more research on this after I got home from work and was able to spend some time investigating, but have discovered, I shouldn’t wait that long. An article posted by Jezebel has already brought up many issues that I feel everyone who watches this video should be aware of:

Dubious Finances

From “Visible Children”:

Invisible Children has been condemned time and time again. As a registered not-for-profit, its finances are public. Last year, the organization spent $8,676,614. Only 32% went to direct services (page 6), with much of the rest going to staff salaries, travel and transport, and film production. This is far from ideal, and Charity Navigator rates their accountability 2/4 stars because they haven’t had their finances externally audited. But it goes way deeper than that.

Exaggerated Claims

From Foreign Affairs magazine:

In their campaigns, such organizations [as Invisible Children] have manipulated facts for strategic purposes, exaggerating the scale of LRA abductions and murders and emphasizing the LRA’s use of innocent children as soldiers, and portraying Kony — a brutal man, to be sure — as uniquely awful, a Kurtz-like embodiment of evil.

Support for Military Intervention

From “Visible Children:

The group is in favour of direct military intervention, and their money supports the Ugandan government‘s army and various other military forces. Here’s a photo of the founders of Invisible Children posing with weapons and personnel of the Sudan People’s Liberation Army. Both the Ugandan army and Sudan People’s Liberation Army are riddled with accusations of rape and looting, but Invisible Children defends them, arguing that the Ugandan army is “better equipped than that of any of the other affected countries”, although Kony is no longer active in Uganda and hasn’t been since 2006 by their own admission. These books each refer to the rape and sexual assault that are perennial issues with the UPDF, the military group Invisible Children is defending.

Marketing Tactics

From Yale Professor Chris Blattman:

“[The video] feels much the same, laced with more macho bravado. The movie feels like it’s about the filmmakers, and not the cause. There might be something to the argument that American teenagers are more likely to relate to an issue through the eyes of a peer. That’s the argument that was made after the first film. It’s not entirely convincing, especially given the distinctly non-teenage political influence IC now has. The cavalier first film did the trick. Maybe now it’s time to start acting like grownups.

There are a few other things that are troubling. It’s questionable whether one should be showing the faces of child soldiers on film. And watching the film one gets the sense that the US and IC were instrumental in getting the peace talks to happen. These things diminish credibility more than anything.

“Invisible Children is staffed by douchebags” (A woman after my own heart.)

From Vice:

“Now when I first watched the Kony 2012 video, there was a horrible pang of self-knowledge as I finally grasped quite how shallow I am. I found it impossible to completely overlook the smug indie-ness of it all. It reminded me of a manipulative technology advert, or the Kings of Leon video where they party with black families, or the 30 Seconds to Mars video where all the kids talk about how Jared Leto’s music saved their lives. I mean, watch the first few seconds of this again. It’s pompous twaddle with no relevance to fucking anything.”

I am still going to try and decide where I stand on this matter, because whatever the facts about Invisible Children are, they still made one difference: People all over the world now feel empowered to know that they can make a difference. One person can make change, (s)he just has to ignite the passion within another. Kony is a bad man. Invisible Children is an organization trying to make change (whether it be 2 stars or 4). You decide what you want to do, because YOU have the freedom to do so.

If Kony 2012 inspired you to donate money to the region, check out these charities, all of which received four star ratings on Charity Navigator: AMREF USADoctors Without Borders, and Water.org.

[VIDEO] Bully: The Heartbreaking Trailer

Screen shot 2012-03-02 at 9.29.30 AM

It is devastating that there are so many GREAT kids in this world that are bullied due to school politics and social stigma. My wish, is that one day, kids will realize that being rude, judgmental and not understanding is a horrible quality and should be done away with. Each person is this world is special to someone or various people, and they deserve a chance to be treated with dignity, respect, and open-mindedness. This trailer gives insight into how these children feel and what their peers are doing to them. It is incredibly heart-breaking, but necessary to watch.

(Also, if you feel like this should have a PG-13 rating as opposed to R, please go HERE and sign the petition! This video needs to reach those within the age demographic that bullying is an issue, NOT a more mature audience… Go sign the petition now! Don’t let the bullies win!)

YouTube

This year, over 16 million American kids will be bullied, making it the most common form of violence young people in the U.S. experience. Directed by Sundance- and Emmy-award winning filmmaker, Lee Hirsch, BULLY is a beautifully cinematic, character-driven documentary—at its heart are those with the most at stake and whose stories each represent a different facet of this bullying crisis.

Following five kids and families over the course of a school year, the film confronts bullying’s most tragic outcomes, including the stories of two families who’ve lost children to suicide and a mother who waits to learn the fate of her 14 –year-old daughter, incarcerated after bringing a gun on her school bus. With rare access to the Sioux City Community School District, the film also gives an intimate glimpse into school busses, classrooms, cafeterias and even principles offices, offering insight into the often-cruel world of children, as teachers, administrators and parents struggle to find answers.

While the stories examine the dire consequences of bullying, they also give testimony to the courage and strength of the victims of bullying and seek to inspire real changes in the way we deal with bullying as parents, teachers, children, and in society as a whole. Through the power of these stories, BULLY aims to be a catalyst for change and to turn the tide on an epidemic of violence that has touched every community in the United States—and far beyond.

Daniel Von Bargen’s 911 Call After Suicide Attempt

'Universal Soldier: The Return' Movie Stills

video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsvideo player

Daniel Von Bargen is laying in an Ohio hospital after attempting to commit suicide Monday morning in an attempt to avoid having more body parts amputated, due to his diabetes. Although he is coherent int he audio tape, he is still in critical condition and was most likely shocked during this phone call.

Bargen is well-known for such roles as Mr. Kruger in “Seinfeld” as well as Chief Grady in “Super Troopers“. Apparently he had already had one leg amputated and was going in for a procedure to have at least a few toes removed as well.

According to Montgomery Police sergeant Greg Vondenbenken, Von Bargen was ‘seriously injured’ and was taken to Bethesda North hospital, Cincinnati, where his condition is critical but improving.

He is well-respected in the entertainment community, and people are showing extreme support for the 61-year-old and his condition. Let’s hope for the best for someone that has provided us with entertainment for many years and a few different generations.

Did Homophobia Contribute To Whitney Houston’s Fall?

Hugs: Whitney, (left) with Bobby Brown, mother Cissy and (right) Robyn Crawford who many believe to be her one true love

In the past few days since Whitney Houston passed away, there are many articles coming out which shed light into who she really was and some of the secrets that she was forced to hide from people. According to many, Ms. Houston’s one true love in life (other than daughter, Bobbi Kristina)was a woman: Robyn Crawford.

Crawford was Whitney Houston’s assistant, and it was obvious to many that they shared more than a friendship. Peter Tatchell, who wrote an amazing article for DailyMail, discusses how he met Ms. Houston and ms. Crawford in 1991 at the Reach Out & Touch HIV vigil that was held in London. This is when Tatchell shared that it was clear to him that Houston and Crawford were madly in love.

They held hands in the back of the car like teenage sweethearts. Clearly more than just friends, they were a gorgeous couple and so happy together. To see their love was infectious and uplifting.

Gay rights campaigner Peter met Whitney at an HIV vigil in London in 1991

Whitney was happiest and at the peak of her career when she was with Robyn. Sadly, she suffered family and church pressure to end her greatest love of all.

Sadly, she was pressured into believing that the most important relationship to her, at the time, could damage her public image, and therefore, career. She eventually gave into the pressure that was put on her by the church and her family, and ended her lesbian relationship with Robyn Crawford. This situation is what led to the spontaneous marriage to former husband, Bobby Brown.

As we all know, Bobby Brown was not a good influence on Whitney and led her down the path of self-destruction. She was willing to down this path because she was emotionally traumatized by her recent split with her one true love.

It seems likely that the split with Robyn contributed to her substance abuse and decline.

There is a known correlation between denial of one’s sexuality and a propensity to self-destructive behaviour. Homophobia undoubtedly added to the pressures on Whitney and hastened her demise.

This is not a story to tarnish Whitney Houston and/or Robyn Crawford, but rather a story to show what homophobia can do to a person. It is also a way to honor their relationship seeing as it was pretty important to both of these women.

Tatchell wasn’t intending on outing Ms. Houston, because there had been many people before him that had hinted at the same message.

Years ago, she was outed by Bobby’s sister, Tina, and by her former bodyguard, Kevin Ammons.

Bobby Brown hinted in his autobiography that she married him to dispel lesbian rumours: ‘I believe her agenda was to clean up her image . . . The media was accusing her of having a bisexual relationship with her assistant, Robin [sic] Crawford . . . that didn’t go too well with her image. In Whitney’s situation, the only solution was to get married . . . [to] kill all speculation.’

Telling the truth does not besmirch Whitney’s memory. It honours the most important relationship she ever had.

It would be nice to see people not have to jump into fake relationships to uphold the image that society has of someone. Love should be the reason behind spending your life with someone, not politics, or public façade. Poor Whitney is an example of what damage could be done.
