Mitt Romney: Hospital Visitation For Gay Couples Are ‘Benefits’ Not Rights

be06645a7a0a44ee962cc9275053312b_0

I am getting really sick and tired of this conservative Mormon telling me what I can and cannot do with, or for, the one I love. My relationship, whether deemed appropriate or not in his mind, is MINE to handle as I please. If my fiancée (soon to be wife) is in the hospital, there is not one person who will be able to keep me from visiting. Why would anyone want someone who is ill to not have the support of those who love them by their side? It’s an unnecessary way of torturing gay individuals who don’t live up to the religious standards of some Americans. I don’t know when we decided that separation of church and state was no longer working, but I can reassure you that I most certainly wasn’t involved in that vote. Oh wait, nothing of the sort ever took place, yet we still manage to create laws based upon religious beliefs.

Two years ago, the current President of the United States of America, Barack Obama, required all hospitals to treat same-sex couples with the same rights as married heterosexual couples, which includes visitation rights. This is also included in Obamacare, for those who were wondering.

Unfortunately, the presidential candidate, Mitt Romney, feels that is no longer necessary. In fact, he believes that allowing same-sex couples to visit each other in the hospital is not a civil right, but rather, a “benefit” that states can take away if they choose. While this is disgusting, there is also the matter of gay adoption on the table. This too, is something Romney feels the states should be deciding. Instead of allowing some good-hearted, loving couples or individuals to adopt children in need, the state will decide if that isn’t in the best interest of the child. Let me remind you, there have been numerous cases of children who have been adopted to heterosexual couples and are found to be abused physically, sexually and emotionally. I can see how that could be a better upbringing than a non abusive gay household.

“Governor Romney supports a federal marriage amendment to the Constitution that defines marriage as an institution between a man and a woman,” Romney advisor Bay Buchanan toldBuzzfeed today. “Governor Romney also believes, consistent with the 10th Amendment, that it should be left to states to decide whether to grant same-sex couples certain benefits, such as hospital visitation rights and the ability to adopt children. I referred to the Tenth Amendment only when speaking about these kinds of benefits – not marriage.”

A President that only supports a percentage of his country, will most certainly not be a great President historically. The gay rights movement will one day be a thing of the past, just like the civil rights movement. I’m not saying that people no longer face discrimination based on skin color, but the laws have most certainly come to their aid in since the 1950′s/1960′s and I am positive the same will happen for those fighting for gay rights.

I am a liberal, but I do not vote based solely on my political party, I vote with the individuals political policies in mind as well as their plans for America’s future. I am disgusted with the fact that people are still willing to vote for a man who does not respect a good percentage of Americans, simply because they do not want to vote for Obama. Think before you recklessly vote for someone based on ridiculous matters. This is our country, our freedom and our way of life. Vote smart.

[VIDEO] 4th Graders ‘Call Me Maybe’ Parody: Reminding Us All of Our Civic Duty to Vote

vote

I don’t really think they know what they’ve done here, because they are only in 4th grade. But, it’s still a nice parody with a good message, in my opinion. Obama and Romney, I can see why you wouldn’t want to vote for either, but why not pick a smaller party opponent? It’s a throw-away vote, sure, but at least you’re standing by what you believe, on the record. Do you not agree with ANY party? Then, do something about it, rather than complain. Voting is a freedom we have, that other people, in different countries, do not have. If you feel differently, let me know why.

[VIDEO] Charity President: Paul Ryan “did nothing” at soup kitchen photo-op

APTOPIX_Romney_2012-0cf5e_image_606w

If people were claiming I was rich and only cared about the rich, I would think a stunt like this would be pretty damn reckless. I’m sure there were plenty of soup kitchens for the young Vice Presidential hopeful to ‘volunteer’ with. But, then again, it must be easier to not do a damn thing, take a photo and share your experience as opposed to actually set aside some time to help out at a facility.

CBS NEWS:

The head of a charity in northeastern Ohio where Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan and his family were photographed cleaning dishes over the weekend said Monday that Ryan was not authorized to be on the premises and “did nothing” while there.

Brian J. Antag, president of the Mahoning County St. Vincent De Paul Society in Youngstowntold the Washington Post that the Romney campaign had not asked to make the Saturday visit to the soup kitchen. He said that he runs an apolitical faith-based organization which has bylaws barring it from hosting political candidates, and that the visit jeopardized donations from private individuals.

“They showed up there and they did not have permission,” he said. “They got one of the volunteers to open up the doors.” Antag added that Ryan and his family “did nothing” while on the premises.

“He just came in here to get his picture taken at the dining hall,” he said.

Ryan was photographed cleaning “large metal pans that did not appear to be dirty” during a 15-minute visit, the Post previously reported. While television cameras rolled and photographers snapped pictures, the Wisconsin congressman discussed washing dishes while he was younger. He said he would get calluses on his fingers due to the heat from the industrial machine.

[PHOTO] Hey Mitt Romney: I Am ONE of the 47% Who Will NOT Vote For You

UPDATE: MONDAY, September 24th at 12:05 PM – This photo is getting A LOT of attention on FaceBook. If you’d like to read comments or join in on the debate, please visit here!

The remarks that were made by Mitt Romney the other day have made quite an impact, especially in regards to his campaign. Unfortunately, he managed to infuriate the 47% that he was speaking about, considering that most everything that came out of his mouth was a fabrication. As stated above in the photo, many people who work and pay their taxes are still voting for Obama due to his stance on strengthening the middle class and giving every hard-working American an opportunity to succeed in this country and make a name for themselves. Mr. Romney is too far detached from the middle class to even know anything about what kind of work we do or how little we use the government, despite our need to do so.

The American Dream is slowly growing from beyond our grasp, because it’s financially impossible for us to make the necessary moves to get ourselves ahead. Luckily, we don’t take for granted what we do have and continue fighting for our dream no matter what bigoted politician gets in our way and tries to inhibit us.  Obama has my vote and hopefully the majority of this country’s as well!

Can I have your attention please.
Can I have your attention please.
Will the real Mitt Romney please stand up.
I repeat. Will the real Mitt Romney please stand up.
We’re gonna have a problem here.
Y’all act like you haven’t seen a Mormon before.
Jaws down on the floor.
I’m not concerned about the very poor.
Got it wrong. Sorry. That’s not what I meant.
I want every American to be in the top one percent.
I’m really named Willard. That’s my first name.
I’m not looking for a colony on the moon. Just for someone to blame.
I like being able to fire people.
“I’m Newt Gingrich.” You’re fired.
“I’m Rick Santorum and I’m….” Fired
Boom. Boom. Boom.
“Conservative women love Mitt Romney.” And I love cars and I love lakes.
I’m running or office for Pete’s sake.
With regards to abortion. Pro-life? Pro-choice?
I firmly believe in my own singing voice.

For purple mountains’ majesty, above the fruited plain.
“Where were we at John?”

Uh… with regards to abortion… uh….
You can choose your own adventure.
It’s a Republican dementia.
And I’m more concerned about the banks: they’re unable to lend.
Corporations are people my friend.
My dog is on the roof. My dog is on the roof.
Who let the dogs out? Who? Who?
Understand I’m an exception. The Obama contraception.
Not a vulture, I’m an eagle.
Look I’m gonna get my lawn cut by illegals.
There will be an influx. Hispanic voters in trucks.
Look, if you don’t believe, I’ll tell you what, ten thousand bucks?
Well, I made a lot of money matter of factually.
I drive a couple of Cadillacs actually.
I have emotion and passion. That’s a joke for the record.
But if you want the soul of America restored,
Come on board. Take your fair share and every
Mormon wave your underwear.
Sing the chorus, papa bear.

I’m Mitt Romney. Yes, I’m the real Romney.
All the other Mitt Romneys are just mass debating.
So would the real Mitt Romney please stand up, please stand up, please stand up.

I’m Mitt Romney. Yes, I’m the real Romney.
All the other Mitt Romneys are just mass debating.
So would the real Mitt Romney please stand up, please stand up, please stand up.

[VIDEO] Mitt Romney: Veteran Gay Basher

He’s at it again.

GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney had interrupted a breakfast that Bob Garon was enjoying at Chez Vachon in Manchester, New Hampshire. Normally his breakfasts were pretty uneventful, but on this morning Mr. Romney was in town to receive an endorsement from Manchester mayor Ted Gatsas.

The irony is so amazing in this story. Garon just so happens to be a gay Vietnam vet and was with his legally wed husband, Bob Lemire, when Romney approached their table. Romney was inquiring about Garon’s military experiences, but the 63-year-old Vietnam vet turned the tables and started asking the Mormon candidate more about his views on gay marriage and benefits for LGBT service members.

Garon asked if Romney would support repealing the New Hampshire law legalizing gay marriage. The flailing candidate said yes, because “marriage is between a man and a woman.”

As ABC News reports:

Garon responded, clarifying that what that meant was that if Romney is elected he would not support any legislation that would change the law so that gay servicemen would get the same benefits as heterosexual couples.

“I believe marriage is a relationship between a man and a woman,” Romney said. “We apparently disagree on that.”

“It’s good to know how you feel, that you do not believe everyone is entitled to their constitutional rights,” the 63-year-old New Hampshire resident responded.

“No, actually I think at the time the Constitution was written it was pretty clear marriage was between a man and a woman,” Romney said, just as one of his campaign aides chimed in that they had “to get going” to another Fox interview.

“Oh, I guess the question was too hot,” Garon quipped to Romney and his aide.
