Great News SoCal: Pot Ban Lifted After Impassioned Plea From Cancer Patient, Councilman Bill Rosendahl

Obviously, this doesn’t help the federal crack down on medical marijuana dispensaries, but it does show that Californians are willing to work at a state level and attempt to keep the dispensaries open and the regulations more clear.

LA Times:

In a faint and gravelly voice, Los Angeles Councilman Bill Rosendahl delivered an impassioned plea Tuesday asking his colleagues to lift the ban on pot dispensaries, asking them: “Where does anybody go, even a councilman go, to get his medical marijuana?”

Minutes before the council voted 11-2 to rescind its recently passed ban on storefront pot shops, Rosendahl said the council’s decision had created “a very emotional moment” for him. Rosendahl has been battling cancer for the past three months and relying on medical marijuana during that time.

“On the 20th of July, I had an MRI that was very, very serious. And the bottom line on that was, they didn’t give me much time to live. And I said, ‘No, no no no, I’m not ready to go. I certainly want to live a long time,’” said Rosendahl, who has been undergoing chemotherapy treatments and relying on a walker to move around in recent days.

Rosendahl, 67, said he began taking medical marijuana a decade ago to manage his neuropathy, a stinging pain in his feet, taking it “occasionally at night.” But on Tuesday, he put the issue in the context of his  battle with cancer, which has made it difficult for him to speak above a whisper.

“If I can’t get marijuana, and it’s medically prescribed, what do I do?” he asked his colleagues.

Rosendahl criticized President Obama’s handling of the issue and spoke against some of the recent federal raids of dispensaries. And he said Los Angeles should work with state lawmakers to make California  law regulating medical marijuana clearer.

Thursday 4Play: Marijuana!

mom,note,weed,funny,handwritten,humor-a1fb88d055e406f1227e6ce9949cead8_h

I LOVE marijuana and believe that it should be legalized. I could go on and on about the benefits of marijuana and how it’s better than alcohol and that it’s a great idea for our economy, but I don’t want to bore the shit out of you. So, here are some funny photos to help express my opinions on the matter…

For those of you who are still reading now that the funny photos are done, I’d like to express that I not only enjoy weed recreationally, but I also have a chronic disorder called CRPS. This stands for Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome (or Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, previously known as RSD) and means that I am intense pain almost all the time. I do have my medical license and consider medical marijuana my medication seeing as I’d prefer to be high and have less pain than doped up on 15 to 20 pills a day. With medical marijuana I can work, endure the pain I have, and also be more aware than I would be on prescription pills. Legalization is something that should be more of a focus, especially considering how many chronic pain disorders there are, that affect so many people in this country. I would rather get ‘too stoned’ (which is ridiculous, and impossible to OD on) than get alcohol poisoning and die or overdose on my prescription pills. Just some food for thought.

This is the only option I have that doesn’t have fatal consequences if I over-indulge.

[VIDEO] Marijuana Drug Deal And Robbery, Gone Bad

82220172

Although there’s not much known about this video, it is fairly obvious that these guys in the car attempt to steal this drug dealers money and ends up crashing his car instead. What an idiot. First of all, the amount of pot that you were trying to gank from this guy was so small that it doesn’t even amount to the damage that was done to your car. Also, I’d be willing to bet that this kid got his ass beat which is why there is no conclusion to the video. Hoping to find out more soon, stay tuned.

Hell Yeah! Southern California Will Not Listen To The Federal Government In Regards To Medical Marijuana And Pushes Forward To Employ More Citizens!

The California economy, along with the rest of the United States of America, is suffering extreme debt and one of the greatest protests in regards to economics and democracy of its time.

Medical Marijuana not only has the ability to offer an alternate way of managing pain for those that are dealing with many different issues, but it would also have the capability of providing extreme finances for multiple small businesses, distributors, growers, and virtually every other branch in our economy.

When you think about the job openings that would be available due to the fact that we were able to legally grow, distribute and sell a product that cost very little to create, I don’t understand how this is not a viable solution. And lets stop pretending that marijuana is a harmful drug. This, like denying evolution, is a ridiculous claim and very ignorant in my opinion. You can act stupid and choose to be uninformed all you want, but the facts have come to light, and marijuana would be a much better “drug” to legalize than alcohol or even tobacco cigarettes. It could also be regulated by the federal government and taxed, which is not happening at this time, and is allowing people to pocket money (that could go to our nationwide debt) and possibly illegally sell a product that could be very harmful.

Well, I know it IS a viable solution, but not allowing corporations to monopolize on our economic downfall seems like something no one is willing to stand up against. Oh wait, yes, Occupy Wall Street is doing precisely this. Luckily, so is the medical marijuana community in Southern California; They are refusing to give in to the demands of a government that has refused to listen to the demands of its citizens.

Despite the threat of a crackdown by federal authorities, California medical marijuana sellers have brazenly forged ahead with the first ever medical marijuana job fair.

Defying federal judges’ calls for an outright ban, the West Coast Cannabis Expo, a gathering of medical marijuana growers and sellers went ahead with no sign of law enforcement officials.

At a time when many Americans are struggling to make ends meet in the face of job losses, medical marijuana is providing growing work opportunities.

One seller, named only as Larry, told CBS News he gets 10 job applications a day.

Larry said: ‘This industry is growing and it’s going to continue to grow. A lot of good things are going to happen for a lot of people.’

Bob Calkin, CEO of CannaJobs, and of the Cannabis Career Institute, said that there were increasing job opportunities.

‘Most of the people coming to the classes are retired people or people from another line of work, or business that have either crashed like the real-estate market or some other thing they’re leaving and they want to try something new,’ Calkin said.

STATE LAW

Under state law, the California Compassionate Use Act of 1996 patients and their ‘primary caregivers’ are protected from criminal prosecution under state law for personal possession and cultivation of marijuana, but NOT for distribution or sale to others.

FEDERAL LAW

Possession, sale, distribution and transportation of marijuana, medical or otherwise, remain completely illegal under federal law.

Under the U.S. Controlled Substances Act (CSA), marijuana is currently classified as a Schedule I drug, meaning that it has no accepted medical use.
