“You may be as straight as an arrow, and you may have a friend that is as straight as an arrow,” she told the Journal. “Say you had a great job with the government where you had this wonderful health plan. I mean, what would prohibit you from saying that you’re gay, and y’all get married and still live as separate, but you get all the benefits? I just see so much abuse in this it’s unreal. I believe a husband and a wife should be a man and a woman, the benefits should be for a man and a woman. There is no way that this is about equality. To me, it’s all about a free ride.” - Georgia GOP Chairwoman Sue Everhart
I’m sorry Ms. Everhart, but you are an absolute idiot. What is stopping two friends, who happen to be straight, from doing this now? Or better yet, if we (the gay community) can’t get married legally, what happens if gay men decide to marry gay women to receive said benefits? Anyone who wants a free ride can do it, with or without gay marriage being legal. The argument that Sue Everhart is making has no validity and is rather moronic to even mention, if you ask me.
There is also the issue of marriage fraud in order to obtain citizenship. Does she not know that this is already something that occurs? And even though marriage has been legal for many years and people have been fraudulently marrying, the percentage of those who do so is INCREDIBLY low.
I understand that she’s striving to put forth a better argument than ‘the bible doesn’t allow it’, but this is just a pathetic attempt to keep homosexuals as second class citizens.
“If it was natural, they would have the equipment to have a sexual relationship,” Everhart told the Journal.
Betty White, 90-years-old, and still has some of the best advice for people today. Everyone says listen to your elders, and my feeling is she is most definitely an elder for most politicians, and hell, most everyone today. Learn from what she has learnt and stop giving two shits about my sexual relationship with someone, because quite frankly, it’s none of your business. If I asked a heterosexual man if he liked sticking it in his wife’s rear, surely he’d be offended; Yet, sodomy has been in law books, for years, as a crime. If you’re a gay man, it’s common knowledge that that’s what goes on, but just because you assume, doesn’t mean someone should be persecuted. And if that were the case, we should be able to look into heterosexual relationships to make sure that they’re not committing the same indecent act.

Please allow me to preface this letter by congratulating you on finding someone to read it to you. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to learn how to read between all of those dress fittings and developing a fragrance that has the “effervescence of grapefruit and pink peppercorn” and subtle notes of limousine upholstery and poodle vomit.
I would like to take that opportunity, but I’m not going to.
Yours wasn’t exactly a marriage that I believed would stand the test of time, as your entire 4 year career appears to be constructed entirely out of marketing ploys, public relations gimmicks and an insatiable desire to have your over-weening ego stroked like some random villain’s fat pussy in a James Bond movie.
A mere four years ago, you blew (quite literally) onto the scene in a viral sex tape in which you bobbed and weaved over R&B singer Ray J.‘s phallus with about the same excitement as a bowl of unseasoned grits. Even then, I gave you the benefit of the doubt as Ray J.’s member was about as crooked as a dog’s hind leg, and it’s hard to blow a boomerang. In a world in which emaciated bodies are coveted and eating disorders glamorized, I was just happy to see that the vixen du jour had a few curves. I mean, if the whole world had to be exposed to your lackluster sex life, at least it wasn’t shoved down our collective throats by some size 2 teenager. Thank you for that. I have several friends who are also adult film stars, so I understand that yours was not an easy profession to swallow. But I find it a little disconcerting that they are still having a hard time making ends meet in this troubling economic environment, while your half hour of slap-and-tickle has resulted in fragrances, three reality television shows and a clothing line dedicated to making teenage girls look like middle-aged drag queens.
As someone who has been in relationships with men of color almost exclusively, I would also like to sincerely thank you on helping to erase some of the ridiculous taboos and misconceptions that often accompany mixed-race relationships. My only criticism here is that you apparently prefer size over substance. I’ll not comment on your previous suitors as their fifteen minutes of fame have less time on them than your 18 hour bra, but this Kris Humphries character really takes the cake. Now, I’m not suggesting that you have ever come across as someone who could snag a particle physicist, but your current husband always came across to me as someone who might find a challenge in one of those 5 piece puzzles they give laboratory chimpanzees. I tried to write off the behavior that you both televised with such reckless abandon as just the fruits of youthful lust and whimsy. Sadly, it appears that the entire relationship and marriage was nothing more than a carefully-constructed public relations device that would result in all parties banking a considerable sum. While I for one did not fall for your particular brand of stupid, many people did. And that’s really just too damned bad for them.
No, Kimberly, my beef with you is not that your marriage existed at all. You should be free to marry whomever you choose, no matter how much lead paint he seems to have digested in his childhood. Rather, my beef with you is that you and your brand would have the audacity to promote and publicize your wedding and marriage with such aplomb only to dissolve it 72 days later.
Do you understand what an insult this is to LGBT people?
As a gay New Yorker, I was part of the machine which fought long and hard so that Marriage Equality could FINALLY find it’s way to this state’s citizens last summer. But as a native North Carolinian, I am reminded that the North Carolina Senate, in a 30-16 vote, agreed to let voters decide during the May primaries whether the state Constitution should ban same-sex marriage.
As American citizens, we were all told there would be a separation between Church and State, but the primary reason that LGBT citizens are being given to deny us Marriage Equality is that the Bible defines marriage as an institution between one man and one woman, and that our unions would destroy the “sanctity of marriage”. Well, as you and your legal team whittle through your second divorce, could you and your goofy husband please explain to us what this “sanctity” thing is? Please? Because I’m completely lost here, and I tend to get a little p!ssed off when my civil rights are being taken out back and put down over some sort of double standard.
72 days, Kim? Seventy-two days??? That’s the best you and your co-star could do? Seriously?
Do you understand that the self-righteous line of bullsh!t that our legislators preach in an effort to brand us as sexual deviants unworthy of marriage becomes an even harder pill to swallow as people like you wipe your collective a$$es with your marriage licenses? Do you understand how painful it is to watch couples who have been in stable, monogamous families for decades be turned away from the Justice of Peace while you try to turn your divorce into a tax shelter after two and a half months? Do you see the hurtful ridiculousness in all of this, Kimberly? Do you?
No, Mrs. Humphries, if you have any desire to convince the rest of the world that you are anything more than a conniving con-artist, you’ll go home to your gigantic slack-jawed husband, work out whatever issues you two have and set up house for the long run. Because while many states are working five days a week to prevent me and my LGBT brothers and sisters from enjoying the union of marriage, I’ll be working day and night to criminalize divorce. I mean, if marriage is so sanctified, then surely divorce is equally an abomination, right? I find it interesting who often two passages in the Bible are used to discriminate against Gay Marriage while the Bible’s two dozen passages regarding divorce are all but ignored. If we as a nation are going to use the “Good Book” as the basis of all of our laws, shouldn’t we focus on it’s writings in their entirety? I know these are loaded questions about a book that has no colorful illustrations, but you should still be kept up to speed, Kimberly.
In closing, if you need any further information about the fight for Marriage Equality in this nation, might I suggest that you consult with your stepfather’s plastic surgeon? It’s clear that this doctor has a gay agenda and he’s not afraid to display it across an Olympic Gold Medal winner’s face.
Oh, and one more thing: That Cuisinart I sent you as a wedding gift? Yeah, I’m going to want that back.
I remain forever,
The Divine Grace

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Ms. Sally Kern, she is an Oklahoma Republican lawmaker. Oklahoma is truly a breeding ground for Republicans that despise homosexuality, at least from my experience. Now, don’t get me wrong, not everyone from Oklahoma has these beliefs, but they are far more abundant than I am familiar with, living here in Los Angeles, CA.
Anyway, Kern decided it would be a great way to commemorate 9/11 by explaining that gays and lesbians are worse of a threat than terrorists and terrorism. While she may feel strongly about such issues, I don’t think that was extremely great timing. To be honest, I really don’t agree with the statement at all. If you remember correctly, TERRORISTS flew planes into the twin towers and the Pentagon, killing thousands of innocent civilians on American soil. As far as I know, there have been no such attacks from the gay community, and according to my ‘gay agenda’, none are planned for the future.
Also, AIDS/HIV is NOT a gay disease. I am seriously so sick of this bullshit! Yes, it was more abundant in gay individuals in the 80′s thanks to the fact that sex between two men was still seen as wrong and men were, at the time, forced to be much more secretive about their affairs. In doing so, protection was the least of their concerns, while being able to be intimate with individuals they were sexually and/or emotionally attracted to was their highest priority. Since then, the disease has flourished in, not just gays, but straights alike. Do your fucking research and don’t be so goddamn stupid.
You know if you just look at it in practical terms, which has destroyed and ended the life of more people? Terrorism attack here in America or HIV/AIDS? In the last twenty years, fifteen to twenty years, we’ve had maybe three terrorist attacks on our soil with a little over 5,000 people regrettably losing their lives. In the same time frame, there have been hundreds of thousands who have died because of having AIDS. So which one’s the biggest threat?
And you know, every day our young people, adults too, but especially our young people, are bombarded at school, in movies, in music, on TV, in the mall, in magazines, they’re bombarded with ‘homosexuality is normal and natural.’ It’s something they have to deal with every day. Fortunately we don’t have to deal with a terrorist attack every day, and that’s what I mean.
Listen to the audio of the above statement, below.
The reason that we are bombarded with such information in the media, is because the media is trying to give American citizens the right to be who they are and not feel badly about it, to the point of extreme actions. There are many young kids who have been victims of suicide, bullying, drug abuse, etc. based on the simple fact that they don’t feel comfortable letting people know how they truly feel. I’m not saying that all of these cases are due to homosexuality, but there are definitely quite a few. If your religious and moral beliefs make you want to belittle and refuse to acknowledge individuals based on their natural attraction to someone of the same sex, then let that be your own damn opinion; But I do NOT want and WILL not stand by and see your beliefs forced upon my actions thanks to laws that you are working to create. Go fuck yourself Ms. Kern.
This is by far one of the best videos I have seen in awhile. A student at Penn State chooses to stand up to Mr. Rick Santorum in regards to his beliefs about Homosexuality, and the effects they have on society. He asked for evidence which proves that children who grow up in same-sex household are okay and then dismisses it saying that there ‘is none’. At this point a brave student who admits she does not know of specific studies, fights back against his judgmental and, in my opinion, immoral beliefs.
He seems upset that Piers Morgan called him a bigot and explains how this was said only to tarnish his image, but not because it was valid. I’m sorry Mr. Santorum, but Mr. Morgan was absolutely correct in his description. A bigot, according to Merriam-Webster is “a person who is obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance “
You do not tolerate homosexuals and by not allowing them the freedom to get married and bear children, you are treating them with hatred. You are set set in your own opinions (regardless of the fact that they also happen to be the opinions of the Catholic Church), and you judge us based on a belief that the church put in place hundreds of years ago. Not only do I think you’re a bigot, but now I must admit that I think you are an ignorant and proud asshole as well.
Watch the video below to see the full thing play out:
Chritine O’Donnell has a book coming out and chose to discuss the book on Piers Morgan’s show. When he decided to ask the author about some issues that were addressed in her book, she got rather offended and explained that she was uninterested in speaking about those matters. Morgan kept persisting because they were issues that she has addressed, not just in her book, but in previous interviews on other programs.
Here is the video of O’Donnell ending the interview while trying to publicize her book, ‘Troublemaker’:

Huffington Post – The Obama administration publicly announced Monday that it has denied immigration rights to Bradford Wells and Anthony John Makk — a gay couple in San Francisco that has been married for seven years — and ordered the deportation of Makk to his native Australia, according to SFGate. Makk applied for permanent residency as a spouse of a U.S. citizen when his visa expired, but he was denied, as his same-sex marriage is not federally recognized.
Makk is the primary caregiver to Wells, who suffers from AIDS. The couple has lived together for 19 years and legally married in Massachusetts in 2004.
Although President Obama announced just last month that he would fight to repeal the controversial Defense of Marriage Act that bans same-sex marriage, his administration cited that very act in the decision.
Until the act is repealed, the White House has vowed to enforce it on a case-by-case basis. In this case, Makk has lived in the United States for more than 20 years, owns a San Francisco business, has no criminal history, has never lived here illegally and is the primary caregiver to his husband.
The timing of the deportation is especially stressful for the ailing Wells, who suffers from advanced AIDS and was rushed to the emergency room in June with symptoms of a heart attack, according to SFWeekly. Wells could join Makk in Australia, but he would be forced to give up his medical insurance.
I’m married just like any other married person in this country. At this point, the government can come in and take my husband and deport him. It’s infuriating. It’s upsetting. I have no power, no right to keep my husband in this country. I love this country, I live here, I pay taxes and I have no right to share my home with the person I married. Anyone can identify with the horror of having the government come in and destroy your family when you’ve done nothing wrong, and you’ve done everything right, followed every law.
Makk will be forced to leave the country by August 25.
UPDATE: On Tuesday afternoon, Anthony John Makk and Bradford Wells announced that they will be appealing their Defense of Marriage Act visa denial, as reported by SF Weekly. SF Weekly also reported that Nancy Pelosi has reached out to urge the Obama administration to reconsider the decision. Her office released the following statement: “Leader Pelosi has formally contacted USCIS on behalf of her constituents and will be working to exhaust all appropriate immigration remedies that are currently open to pursue.”
Being on Broadway is sometimes just a dream for people, especially those who have no natural talent. Well now, none of that matters. These couples will be able to be on stage at the St. James to wed and make history. It’s exciting that New York’s Broadway community is not only embracing, but celebrating this momentous occasion. Congratulations to all the lucky couples that will be a part of this!
Instinct Magazine: Broadway is prepped to welcome New York’s marriage equality law with plans to celebrate some of the state’s first same-sex marriages the best way the Great White Way can: on stage! So what is the Broadway community planning to commemorate this historic occasion?
After Hair wraps up its nightly performance on July 25th, a few lucky couples from the Broadway community will become some of the first same-sex pairs to legally tie the knot in the Empire State right there on the stage of the St. James Theater! (Just think of all the young gay boys who dream of Broadway weddings!)
Book of Mormon star Rory O’Malley made the announcement in front of the theater, currently playing host to Hair, late Wednesday. ”It’s not just a summer of love,” he said at the press conference, “it’s a summer of equality.”
Jordan Roth, president of the company that owns the St. James, said, ”The theater is the place where we come together to celebrate and affirm who we are as a people. It is the place where we stand in front of our community on a stage and we speak our truths. That’s what theater is and that’s what a wedding is.”
This article just goes to show that some people will stand by what they believe regardless of the changes that are taking place around them. Many of these people feel it’s best to stand by your beliefs because that’s the proof that you have faith. In my opinion, that doesn’t make sense. If there are so many people who are “religious” that are able to allow this, why can’t you? Religion is so interpretive, and you may choose to believe however you want.
On the other hand, the gays can not choose to be straight. Some people may feel this is possible, but all it is, is pretending. Most gay people are fairly good at it, considering they’ve had to put on an act for so many years. Well, practice makes perfect. Unhappy, but perfect
Here is some of the article:
“HUDSON, New York (Reuters) - A town clerk in western New York has resigned to avoid being forced to sign marriage licenses for gay and lesbian couples, citing religious objections to same-sex marriage.
Laura Fotusky, the town clerk in Barker, New York, said in her resignation letter that she will step down on July 21, three days before New York becomes the sixth and largest state to allow gay nuptials.
Governor Andrew Cuomo signed the same sex marriage law last month after the bill narrowly passed the Republican-led state Senate. Its approval in New York is seen as a catalyst for gay marriage elsewhere as well as helping push the issue to the forefront nationally ahead of the 2012 elections.
Much of the debate in New York focused on the scope of protections for those opposed to same-sex marriage. The new law exempts religious groups from performing same-sex marriages but does not extend those protections to individuals, including government employees.
Fotusky was not immediately available for comment, but in her letter, dated July 11, she said she believes the Bible takes precedence over man-made laws.
The Bible clearly teaches that God created marriage between male and female as a divine gift that preserves families and cultures. Since I love and follow Him, I cannot put my signature on something that is against God, she wrote.
I would be compromising my moral conscience if I participated in the licensing procedure, she wrote.”
