Did Homophobia Contribute To Whitney Houston’s Fall?

Hugs: Whitney, (left) with Bobby Brown, mother Cissy and (right) Robyn Crawford who many believe to be her one true love

In the past few days since Whitney Houston passed away, there are many articles coming out which shed light into who she really was and some of the secrets that she was forced to hide from people. According to many, Ms. Houston’s one true love in life (other than daughter, Bobbi Kristina)was a woman: Robyn Crawford.

Crawford was Whitney Houston’s assistant, and it was obvious to many that they shared more than a friendship. Peter Tatchell, who wrote an amazing article for DailyMail, discusses how he met Ms. Houston and ms. Crawford in 1991 at the Reach Out & Touch HIV vigil that was held in London. This is when Tatchell shared that it was clear to him that Houston and Crawford were madly in love.

They held hands in the back of the car like teenage sweethearts. Clearly more than just friends, they were a gorgeous couple and so happy together. To see their love was infectious and uplifting.

Gay rights campaigner Peter met Whitney at an HIV vigil in London in 1991

Whitney was happiest and at the peak of her career when she was with Robyn. Sadly, she suffered family and church pressure to end her greatest love of all.

Sadly, she was pressured into believing that the most important relationship to her, at the time, could damage her public image, and therefore, career. She eventually gave into the pressure that was put on her by the church and her family, and ended her lesbian relationship with Robyn Crawford. This situation is what led to the spontaneous marriage to former husband, Bobby Brown.

As we all know, Bobby Brown was not a good influence on Whitney and led her down the path of self-destruction. She was willing to down this path because she was emotionally traumatized by her recent split with her one true love.

It seems likely that the split with Robyn contributed to her substance abuse and decline.

There is a known correlation between denial of one’s sexuality and a propensity to self-destructive behaviour. Homophobia undoubtedly added to the pressures on Whitney and hastened her demise.

This is not a story to tarnish Whitney Houston and/or Robyn Crawford, but rather a story to show what homophobia can do to a person. It is also a way to honor their relationship seeing as it was pretty important to both of these women.

Tatchell wasn’t intending on outing Ms. Houston, because there had been many people before him that had hinted at the same message.

Years ago, she was outed by Bobby’s sister, Tina, and by her former bodyguard, Kevin Ammons.

Bobby Brown hinted in his autobiography that she married him to dispel lesbian rumours: ‘I believe her agenda was to clean up her image . . . The media was accusing her of having a bisexual relationship with her assistant, Robin [sic] Crawford . . . that didn’t go too well with her image. In Whitney’s situation, the only solution was to get married . . . [to] kill all speculation.’

Telling the truth does not besmirch Whitney’s memory. It honours the most important relationship she ever had.

It would be nice to see people not have to jump into fake relationships to uphold the image that society has of someone. Love should be the reason behind spending your life with someone, not politics, or public façade. Poor Whitney is an example of what damage could be done.

People Have No Respect

whitney-houston

People have no respect for anybody these days. As I’m sure all of you know, Whitney Houston, 48, has passed away after an incident that occurred at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA. Apparently she mixed a deadly amount of Xanax and alcohol. After doing this, she got into the bathtub and this is where she took her last breath. Now that we’re all caught up, let’s continue.

So many people are talking about how Ms. Houston was a washed up drug addict that because of her money, was capable of getting herself better. People that have dealt with addiction and know people who have dealt with addiction, are well aware that it is not that easy. We think we know these celebrities because they and their families are harassed with paparazzi and they air some of their private lives in order to gain an income. Then, once they pass away, we feel we have a right to judge what they did right, what they did wrong, and yet have no sympathy for the real scenario that is playing out.

Whitney Houston not only had a daughter, but she had an entire family and tons of friends who supported her and were standing by her side as she attempted to make changes. Beyond that, we don’t know what led her to use drugs in the first place. Some people handle traumatic instances differently than another and can’t judge the other person for not dealing with it in the same way they would have. That is just ignorant to believe that there is one way, and one way only, to react to any given situation. That is utter bullshit.

Dealing with an addiction is a hard thing to do, and personally, I don’t feel it’s our right to judge. Yes, many people in America deal with this issue and many of those people do end up on the streets. But let me ask you one thing: What would you do if your son and/or daughter, for whatever reason, turned to drugs and had a nearly impossible time turning away? Would you disown him/her and think of him/her as a washed up drug addict? I would hope not.

Like I said, each person in this world has incidences in their life or a family history of addiction that led to their demise. Those who have a history we can’t understand (molestation, rape, abuse of any kind, and so on and so on) have trouble coping. Just because you’ve been a success in life and may have a stronger will that keeps you from going down the wrong path, doesn’t mean that you have a right to judge those you don’t understand. I have MANY friends and family members who have dealt with being addicted to something, some of which have died. They were and/or are good people, who when off of drugs, were/are kind, caring, great, talented people. They were/are NOT washed up drug addicts. She had money, yes, but she still had deep-rooted emotional issues. Money can’t buy you happiness. This story of Whitney Houston’s death is proof.

The insensitivity that many people have had after hearing the news of an icon baffles me. She had provided this generation as well as many others with entertainment for many years and what do you do? Laugh when you discover that she was unable to kick her habit and instead died after years of struggle. And again, she DID NOT die from crack like many of you have implied. Although, to me, that wouldn’t make a difference because she’s still responsible for many accomplishments in her life.

The only PERSON (celebrity or not) that I have ever said something bad about after their death was Michael Jackson. I’m saying this because I want this article to reflect my exact opinions. I spoke poorly of Mr. Jackson because I feel he was guilty of the molestation charges that were brought against him. I know he was an icon and an amazing musician who had a very troubled childhood. He also was very into drugs, just no one really cared, because these drugs weren’t illegal. And neither were the ones that Whitney took on the night she passed. Just thought that was worth pointing out.

My message to you: have some respect and imagine if she were someone you knew, not someone you THOUGHT you knew.

Father ‘abducted and drowned two young sons as their mother, 22, escaped’

Naim Rasool Mohammed, 32, drowned his two young sons after taking them and their mother, 22, on the way to school. The mother of the boys, unnamed, was threatened with a brick by Mohammed to get into his vehicle with the children. Before going too far, she managed to escape the vehicle and catch the eye of a Dallas County constable who called for help over his radio, but did not pursue the suspect in a chase.

According to authorities, he had also attempted to take his youngest child, one-year-old, from a different location, but was unsuccessful. The frantic mother explained that Naim Rasool had threatened to kill the children as well as herself many times before and she was scared for their safety.

Five-year-old Naim was starting his first day of school. His brother Elijah, three, also died

While police were out trying to find the suspect, they received a call they didn’t expect.

Hours after the boys were taken, authorities received a call from a woman who said her son had drowned her grandchildren and that she had the children, who were unresponsive, in her car awaiting paramedics, Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans said in a statement, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Sadly, they do not know where the boys were drowned or what his motivation was to do such a horrific thing to his own flesh and blood. Although, he does have quite a history of abusing those close to him:

In September 2009, Mohammed pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second degree felony, and received five years’ probation.

According to court records, which also spell his last name Muhammad, the charge stemmed from a complaint from his sister that he had struck her in the head with a hammer.

Mohammed also has convictions for burglary of a vehicle, theft by check and marijuana possession, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety’s online data base.

This piece of crap should have been locked up multiple times before and not been allowed to be in this position where he could harm his children. Who gets five years probation for hitting their sister in the head with a hammer?! That, in my opinion, looks a lot like attempted murder. Especially when a man has such a violent past with a numerous amount of criminal convictions. And now, because he wasn’t punished severely enough for his previous crimes, two innocent and beautiful children are dead, much too soon. I hope to God he gets his face dunked into a disgusting prison toilet while being ass-raped and then, maybe then, he will be able to empathize with how his children must have felt. He is a worthless human being and it’s sad that we pay our taxes, which allow him to live, but I’d much rather him suffer and have to think about it on the daily, than be put out of his misery.

The least I can say is that this one-year-old baby will never have to fear his father like his two older brothers did.

Gang Drowned Pony And Horrified Onlookers

A group of 12 men and boys were seen pushing a pony, attached to a trap, into the eight-feet deep lake. Although there was one 21-year-old walker who came across the incident and attempted to help; He was kicked in the head by the terrified animal and knocked unconscious. Authorities are now searching for the thugs that did this.

Apparently, the group of twelve was also seen beating the animal with sticks:

Officers are also investigating reports the yobs used sticks to beat the two-year-old piebald cob pony as it tried desperately to haul itself out of Hawley Lake, near Farnborough, Hampshire, on Saturday afternoon.

Two other ponies were also in danger as the group of thugs attempted to push them in as well. They were also attached to the trap, but fortunately, were spared.
The pony that was pushed into the water and beaten was unable to crawl out the way that it was pushed in and attempted to swim to the other side. Due to the weight of the trap and the depth of the water, he was pulled under and drowned.

Hampshire Police also launched a joint investigation with the RSPCA to find those responsible.

Sophie Wilkinson, of the RSPCA, said: ‘It’s an extremely cruel and shocking thing that these people have done and we have no idea why they did it.

‘It seems a gang of 12 men and boys lined up three ponies and traps and tried to force them into the water – they succeeded with this one.’

Police spokesman Alan Smith added: ‘When the attempt to push a second and third pony into the lake failed, the group of people drove them and their traps away in the direction of Yateley.

‘There were a number of people around at the time including dog walkers and fishermen and we would like to hear from witnesses.’

‘Sleepwalking’ British mother, 68, drowned in swimming pool at Cyprus villa

Dailymail - A British pensioner has drowned in her swimming pool in Cyprus after apparently falling in while sleepwalking.

Fiona Merritt, 68, was discovered in the pool by her husband John at their home in Paphos ten days ago.

The mother-of-four, described as ‘full of life’ and ‘happy go lucky’, had moved to Cyprus two years ago from Taunton, Somerset, along with her husband, 65.

Police said they were treating her death as drowning, but were trying to find out how she fell into the water at around 1.30am on August 2.

Daughter Tracy Seward said: ‘It is completely out of character for her to go outside that early – she might have been sleepwalking.

‘She was a strong swimmer and we believe she may have slipped in the pool.

‘I wish we had more answers as not knowing is the worst part.

‘Mum and dad were really excited about their move to Cyprus two years ago and they were really enjoying their time there.’

She added that her mother was devastated after finding out her brother Michael Mitchell, who she had not seen for 20 years, died from a heart attack in Tennessee, U.S. in April, but dismissed fears she may have committed suicide.

Mrs Merritt’s funeral was held in Larnaca earlier this week

Disabled Young Lady Held as Sex Slave for 5 Years

A Kirkwood man arrested by the FBI on Thursday was one of four Missouri men who paid a fifth to either watch him torture a mentally disabled woman online or torture her themselves, prosecutors said.

The 20-page federal indictment, unsealed with the men’s arrests Thursday, contains accusations of sexual and physical torture lasting five years, acts that U.S. Attorney Beth Phillips called “among the most horrific ever prosecuted” in the Western District of Missouri.

The alleged torturer, Edward “Master Ed” Bagley Sr., 43, of Lebanon, Mo., tattooed the woman to mark her as his slave, convinced her that she was legally “bound” to him and threatened her, prosecutors said. He also is accused of forcing her to work as a stripper.

Bagley tortured the woman for five years, until he induced a heart attack while suffocating and electrically shocking her on Feb. 27, 2009, prosecutors said. She was hospitalized.

Her hospitalization sparked an 18-month investigation that led to the charges.

Those alleged to be customers for the woman’s forced services included Bradley Cook, 31, of the 11500 block of Big Bend Road in Kirkwood; Dennis Henry, 50, of Wheatland, Mo.; Michael Stokes, 62, of Lebanon; and James Noel, 44, of Springfield, Mo., prosecutors said. Henry’s occupation was listed as postmaster general of Nevada, Mo., but that could not immediately be confirmed Thursday evening. Cook, according to state records, is a licensed real estate broker associate.

The indictment alleges that Bagley met the woman when she was 16 and a runaway and persuaded her to move into his trailer with promises of a “great life” and a future as a model and dancer.

She got her own room, furniture and TV, and Bagley began giving her drugs, showing her pornography and sexually abusing her, prosecutors said.

When she turned 18, he persuaded her to sign a ‘sex slave contract,” which he said bound her to him for life, prosecutors claim.

Bagley “beat, whipped, flogged, suffocated, choked, electrocuted, caned, skewered, drowned, mutilated, hung and caged” the girl “to coerce her to become a ‘sex slave,’” the indictment says. It adds that he tied her up and hung her in the air, locked her in a dog cage and used staples, nails and a sewing needle and thread during torture sessions too violent to describe.

In 2005, Bagley began boasting online that the girl was his slave and could be tortured during online sessions or in person, the indictment says.

Henry, Stokes, Noel and Cook gave Bagley cash, cigarettes, computer equipment, sadomasochism videos, coats and meat in exchange for access to the girl, the indictment says.

If she cried out or tried to stop the torture, it only got worse, prosecutors said. Bagley threatened her by claiming to have buried other bodies behind his trailer home and shooting animals that she cared for in front of her, prosecutors said.

Bagley also performed abortions on the girl, the indictment says.

The indictment says Cook, the Kirkwood man, downloaded pictures and videos of the girl being tortured, gave Bagley a computer hard drive containing sadomasochism and torture videos downloaded from the Web, watched the torture live and had sex with the girl.

Court documents allege that Cook has a long history of violent behavior, sadomasochistic conduct and drug abuse and that “he tortured and sexually mutilated at least two other female victims in the past.”

A call to one of Cook’s former addresses was answered by someone who declined to answer questions about Cook and referred a reporter to Cook’s lawyer, but declined to provide a lawyer’s name.

The men could face life in prison.

This is sick and cruel. All off these men better be in prison and suffering the same type of torture that she was, although I’m sure that is impossible. She’s lucky to have survived the nearly fatal attack that ironically saved her life.
