Uganda’s Anti-Gay Bill to be Passed by End of Year Despite Criticism Abroad

uganda-anti-gay-demonstration-2009-12-22-18-11-45

If you aren’t already familiar with Uganda’s anti-gay bill, I urge you to become informed. The bill mandates death for some gay acts and will become law this year. Ultimately, the people of Uganda have stated that they would like anyone who is living a gay lifestyle, murdered. The death penalty for loving someone of the same sex?! There are people out there who murder, rape, steal, cheat, lie, etc. and are given second chances, but because someone may love another who is not idealistic in their minds, they should be put to death?! I thought we had advanced enough to never see something like this actually pass. True, it is in Uganda and they are much more traditional, but I would have thought murdering someone for something so frivolous wouldn’t be approved by the majority.

Hate to admit, but this next bit of information is coming from Fox News:

Speaker Rebecca Kadaga told The Associated Press that the bill, which originally mandated death for some gay acts, will become law this year.

Ugandans “are demanding it,” she said, reiterating a promise she made before a meeting on Friday of anti-gay activists who spoke of “the serious threat” posed by homosexuals to Uganda’s children. Some Christian clerics at the meeting in the Ugandan capital, Kampala, asked the speaker to pass the law as “a Christmas gift.”

“Speaker, we cannot sit back while such (a) destructive phenomenon is taking place in our nation,” the activists said in a petition. “We therefore, as responsible citizens, feel duty-bound to bring this matter to your attention as the leader of Parliament … so that lawmakers can do something to quickly address the deteriorating situation in our nation.”

The anti-gay activists paraded in front of Kadaga, with parents and schoolchildren holding up signs saying homosexuality is “an abomination.” The speaker then promised to consider the bill within two weeks, declaring that “the power is in our hands.”

“Who are we not to do what they have told us? These people should not be begging us,” Kadaga said of activists who want the bill to become law.

Uganda’s penal code criminalizes homosexuality, but in 2009 a lawmaker with the ruling party said a stronger law was needed to protect Uganda’s children from homosexuals. Parliamentarian David Bahati charged at the time that wealthy homosexuals from the West were “recruiting” poor children into gay lifestyles with promises of money and a better life. Bahati believes his bill is sufficiently popular among lawmakers to pass without difficulty.

Some gay activists in Uganda are happy that so much light has been shed on this situation, because like Uganda, many African countries have criminalized homosexuality. It’s amazing that there are even gay activists out there fighting for their rights when there are such harsh consequences. Even here in California homosexuals can not legally be married, and we’re a liberal state.

The President, Barack Obama, has described this bill as “odious”, and many other European countries have threaded to cut aid to Uganda. I hope that many of these countries follow through and show Uganda that hate and their immoral decision to kill because of sexuality will not go unnoticed. I could never imagine living in a country with such disdain for who I was. Luckily, I live in America, where we’re still not equal, but getting closer everyday.

The Most Devoted Pet: German Shepherd Stays By His Dead Owner’s Grave For 6 Years

article-2202509-14FDAC27000005DC-124_634x475

DailyMail -

A faithful dog has refused to leave the side of his dead master’s grave for six years, it was reported today. German shepherd, Capitan, ran away from home after the death of Argentinian, Miguel Guzman, in 2006. A week later, Mr Guzman’s family went to pay their respects and found the heartbroken pet sitting by his owner’s grave, wailing.

Since then the grieving dog has rarely left the spot at the cemetery in the town of Villa Carlos Paz, central Argentina. Mr. Guzman bought Capitan as a present for his 13-year-old son, Damian, in 2005. Damian’s father died suddenly in March the next year, but by the time his family had returned home from the funeral, Capitan was gone.

‘We searched for him but he had vanished. We thought he must have got run over and died.

‘The following Sunday we went to the cemetery and Damian recognised his pet. Capitan came up to us, barking and wailing, as if he were crying.’

‘We had never taken him to the cemetery so it is a mystery how he managed to find the place.

‘We went back the next Sunday, and he was there again. This time, he followed us home and spent a bit of time with us, but then went back to the cemetery before it started getting dark.

‘I don’t think he wanted to leave Miguel on his own at night.’

The cemetery’s director Hector Baccega remembers the day he first saw the dog.

‘He turned up here one day, all on his own, and started wandering all around the cemetery until he eventually found the tomb of his master.

‘During the day he sometimes has a walk around the cemetery, but always rushes back to the grave. And every day, at six o’clock sharp, he lies down on top of the grave stays there all night.’

Antidote For Cocaine Overdose: Keep Partying and Avoid Consequences

chocaine

Cocaine is a prominent drug that is used by many people, especially those who like to go out drinking and need something to make sure they’ll be able to hang out long enough for after hours. The only thing stopping people from going overboard? The threat of death. Well, science has now given the entire population a reason to go out and get blown out of their fucking minds: an antidote!

Scientists at The Scripps Research Institute have shown that an injectable solution can protect mice from an otherwise lethal overdose of the Class A drug.

As of now, the antidote has only been tested on mice, but they’re hoping to move forward and do some human clinical trials. They are searching for a way to produce the solution cheap enough and in large quantities, before the testing on real beings who would use cocaine to the point of an overdose have the opportunity to see if this truly works.

‘This would be the first specific antidote for cocaine toxicity,’ said study author Dr Kim Janda.

‘It’s a human antibody so it should be relatively safe, it has a superior affinity for cocaine, and we examined it in a cocaine overdose model that mirrors a real-life scenario,’ he said.

In the United States, there are over 400,000 incidences that involve Cocaine in Emergency rooms, every year. Along with that large amount of abusers, there are also 5,000 overdoses that lead to death each year. Scientists are hoping their antidote could help keep the number of deaths and incidences down, but are unaware that the threat of death is what most likely keeps it that low (not that 5,000 is low).

The passive vaccine worked by crossing the blood-brain barrier, which caused the cocaine molecules to diffuse out of the brain tissue. At the same time it reduced the drug’s effects on the heart and nearby organs.

For those who enjoy peer pressuring others, this is awesome. And for those people who were like me and found the death consequences a good reason to say no, you’re fucked. Way to go science!

[VIDEO] Bully: The Heartbreaking Trailer

Screen shot 2012-03-02 at 9.29.30 AM

It is devastating that there are so many GREAT kids in this world that are bullied due to school politics and social stigma. My wish, is that one day, kids will realize that being rude, judgmental and not understanding is a horrible quality and should be done away with. Each person is this world is special to someone or various people, and they deserve a chance to be treated with dignity, respect, and open-mindedness. This trailer gives insight into how these children feel and what their peers are doing to them. It is incredibly heart-breaking, but necessary to watch.

(Also, if you feel like this should have a PG-13 rating as opposed to R, please go HERE and sign the petition! This video needs to reach those within the age demographic that bullying is an issue, NOT a more mature audience… Go sign the petition now! Don’t let the bullies win!)

YouTube

This year, over 16 million American kids will be bullied, making it the most common form of violence young people in the U.S. experience. Directed by Sundance- and Emmy-award winning filmmaker, Lee Hirsch, BULLY is a beautifully cinematic, character-driven documentary—at its heart are those with the most at stake and whose stories each represent a different facet of this bullying crisis.

Following five kids and families over the course of a school year, the film confronts bullying’s most tragic outcomes, including the stories of two families who’ve lost children to suicide and a mother who waits to learn the fate of her 14 –year-old daughter, incarcerated after bringing a gun on her school bus. With rare access to the Sioux City Community School District, the film also gives an intimate glimpse into school busses, classrooms, cafeterias and even principles offices, offering insight into the often-cruel world of children, as teachers, administrators and parents struggle to find answers.

While the stories examine the dire consequences of bullying, they also give testimony to the courage and strength of the victims of bullying and seek to inspire real changes in the way we deal with bullying as parents, teachers, children, and in society as a whole. Through the power of these stories, BULLY aims to be a catalyst for change and to turn the tide on an epidemic of violence that has touched every community in the United States—and far beyond.

Daniel Von Bargen’s 911 Call After Suicide Attempt

'Universal Soldier: The Return' Movie Stills

video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsvideo player

Daniel Von Bargen is laying in an Ohio hospital after attempting to commit suicide Monday morning in an attempt to avoid having more body parts amputated, due to his diabetes. Although he is coherent int he audio tape, he is still in critical condition and was most likely shocked during this phone call.

Bargen is well-known for such roles as Mr. Kruger in “Seinfeld” as well as Chief Grady in “Super Troopers“. Apparently he had already had one leg amputated and was going in for a procedure to have at least a few toes removed as well.

According to Montgomery Police sergeant Greg Vondenbenken, Von Bargen was ‘seriously injured’ and was taken to Bethesda North hospital, Cincinnati, where his condition is critical but improving.

He is well-respected in the entertainment community, and people are showing extreme support for the 61-year-old and his condition. Let’s hope for the best for someone that has provided us with entertainment for many years and a few different generations.

A Message To Humanity:

imgres

With everything that has happened in the world lately, I’ve come to change my opinions on some matters and realize what’s truly important to me in life. In all honesty, these are feelings I’ve had for a while, but somehow when death arises, it blurs out all the nonsense and focuses in on the important aspects of life. For those of you who think I’m referring to Whitney Houston, she does come to mind, but more so, I’m thinking about the young sister of a great friend of mine. Although we weren’t super close, the memories I did share with her (spying on us in the living room, using her sister’s car without permission, cutting up her clothes in the room next to where we were blasting music and cutting out pages of Cristina Aguilera from magazines) weigh on my mind and influence my thoughts. She had an amazing heart and maybe sometimes we should stop being so harsh and judgmental and start focusing in on compassion and understanding.

My friend, Phil Paul Call, wrote an amazing response to my article, ‘People Have No Respect’. It is one of the most honest and eloquent writings I have read and felt it needed to be shared and not buried within the comment section of my blog. Here is what he had to say:

I am done with humans. We have no empathy for others. The Internet allows us to mask ourselves and Troll the Comment Sections of Yahoo, YouTube, TMZ and so on and so on… With their cowardly keyboard as a shield, these are lame people who savor the reactions that they get from humans who care or have dignity.

Whitney Houston was a human being. With flaws and issues, like the rest of us EXCEPT… Her flaws was under a microscope and due to this, people feel like they have the right to make her more human than human – which is NOT human. This is an impossible standard for anyone to live by. One thing about Whitney Houston that many people do not realize was that she was “Down to Earth.” Real. Human. Her fame does not give anyone the right to tear her flesh apart in judgement. I can only wonder what dark secrets people hold that would be exposed in the light of Tabloids and 24/7 News.. By the way, none of the news is REALLY news and this is another problem with our culture. We have become a 24 Hour a Day “Jennifer Aniston Update!”

There are wars, international events and REAL news but we suck on the anesthetic thumb of our mind numbingly shallow media. How stupid have we become? When is the last time our day has not been marred by someone’s predjudice, giving the finger while driving and/or gossip. People are awful to each other. What we cannot ignore is the beauty of those who are not that way. We must cling to those who care and take a stand against hate. Rage against intolerance and who show us ultimate kindness.. We MUST recognize that in those around us. Let us not be consumed by the *******’s.

Back to Whitney Houston, what people do not understand is even the brief history that existed before they were born. Whitney Houston is unparalleled, she has won more musical awards than any other woman being nominated for 562 and winning 416.

“416!!!”

If I win the 25 cents grabby thing with the hook and you try to win a prize at Chuck E. Cheese I feel like I am ALL THAT! Whitney Houston won 416 Major Awards… Grammys, American Music Awards, Billboard, RIAA, Emmys and more.. Her version of the 1991 Super Bowl National Anthem sold millions of which she donated every penny to the families of 9/11.

http://youtu.be/5jeUINzHK9o?hd=1

As we know, the stars that we see in the sky at night have all burned out, we merely see their afterglow that shines so brightly. That is what Whitney Houston is… A Star. Her light will shine for hundreds of years after we’re all gone. And just what will Internet Comment Section Troll #4,000,087 have to show for it?

Hate. Nothing. Useless drivel and jealousy. Their critical opinions of those who shine OR rise to the top.

I am slowly, at my old age learning to chill on my reaction to haters. Many of them are weak and they are fueled by making good people angry or seeing us waste our passion on them… Maybe their junk doesn’t work or maybe they wet the bed? Something drives them to evil? Either way, I eloquently say FUCK THOSE MOTHERFUCKERS! BE A REAL HUMAN AND SAY IT OUT LOUD TO AN ACTUAL REAL HUMAN’S FACE AND WATCH THE HAND GO “S-LAP” BITCHES!!

I was angry when I slap those people up in the faces andwhatnot….

I now choose to heed Whitney’s advice…

“I hope life treats you kind
And I hope you have all you’ve dreamed of.
And I wish to you, joy and happiness.
But above all this, I wish you love.”

Whitney Houston – R.I.P.”

This isn’t about Whitney dying. This isn’t about my best friend’s little sister. This is about us…all of us. We are flawed and have lost compassion. We judge people for what they CHOOSE to do because it may not seem like the best option in our minds.

And for those of you who are religious, let God be the judge. You are here for one reason, to live your life, learn from your mistakes, and love. Have compassion and stop worrying about other people. That, is not your job.

Thank you Phil for making such a profound statement. And on this day of love, I wish for all of you: compassion, sincerity, honesty, loyalty, and everything else that we have forgotten due to a lack of social ability.

People Have No Respect

whitney-houston

People have no respect for anybody these days. As I’m sure all of you know, Whitney Houston, 48, has passed away after an incident that occurred at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA. Apparently she mixed a deadly amount of Xanax and alcohol. After doing this, she got into the bathtub and this is where she took her last breath. Now that we’re all caught up, let’s continue.

So many people are talking about how Ms. Houston was a washed up drug addict that because of her money, was capable of getting herself better. People that have dealt with addiction and know people who have dealt with addiction, are well aware that it is not that easy. We think we know these celebrities because they and their families are harassed with paparazzi and they air some of their private lives in order to gain an income. Then, once they pass away, we feel we have a right to judge what they did right, what they did wrong, and yet have no sympathy for the real scenario that is playing out.

Whitney Houston not only had a daughter, but she had an entire family and tons of friends who supported her and were standing by her side as she attempted to make changes. Beyond that, we don’t know what led her to use drugs in the first place. Some people handle traumatic instances differently than another and can’t judge the other person for not dealing with it in the same way they would have. That is just ignorant to believe that there is one way, and one way only, to react to any given situation. That is utter bullshit.

Dealing with an addiction is a hard thing to do, and personally, I don’t feel it’s our right to judge. Yes, many people in America deal with this issue and many of those people do end up on the streets. But let me ask you one thing: What would you do if your son and/or daughter, for whatever reason, turned to drugs and had a nearly impossible time turning away? Would you disown him/her and think of him/her as a washed up drug addict? I would hope not.

Like I said, each person in this world has incidences in their life or a family history of addiction that led to their demise. Those who have a history we can’t understand (molestation, rape, abuse of any kind, and so on and so on) have trouble coping. Just because you’ve been a success in life and may have a stronger will that keeps you from going down the wrong path, doesn’t mean that you have a right to judge those you don’t understand. I have MANY friends and family members who have dealt with being addicted to something, some of which have died. They were and/or are good people, who when off of drugs, were/are kind, caring, great, talented people. They were/are NOT washed up drug addicts. She had money, yes, but she still had deep-rooted emotional issues. Money can’t buy you happiness. This story of Whitney Houston’s death is proof.

The insensitivity that many people have had after hearing the news of an icon baffles me. She had provided this generation as well as many others with entertainment for many years and what do you do? Laugh when you discover that she was unable to kick her habit and instead died after years of struggle. And again, she DID NOT die from crack like many of you have implied. Although, to me, that wouldn’t make a difference because she’s still responsible for many accomplishments in her life.

The only PERSON (celebrity or not) that I have ever said something bad about after their death was Michael Jackson. I’m saying this because I want this article to reflect my exact opinions. I spoke poorly of Mr. Jackson because I feel he was guilty of the molestation charges that were brought against him. I know he was an icon and an amazing musician who had a very troubled childhood. He also was very into drugs, just no one really cared, because these drugs weren’t illegal. And neither were the ones that Whitney took on the night she passed. Just thought that was worth pointing out.

My message to you: have some respect and imagine if she were someone you knew, not someone you THOUGHT you knew.

Tyree Lincoln Smith Killed Homeless Man With Hatchet Before Eating His Brains And One Eye

article-0-1174E6F3000005DC-575_468x538

Okay this story is absolutely insane, but as we all know, there are definitely some crazy ass cannibals out there doing things you couldn’t even imagine. Tyree Lincoln Smith, from Florida, was arrested after allegedly hacking a man from Connecticut to death and then eating the victim’s eye along with some of his brain.

Police in Lynn Haven, Florida, said Wednesday that 35-year-old Tyree Lincoln Smith was arrested Tuesday night on a Connecticut warrant for murder.

In the pice report from Bridgeport, Connecticut, Smith had gone and told his cousin, Nicole Rabb, about the entire incident. As he told her of the horrendous crime he had just committed, he stood covered in blood. While holding an axe, he had told his cousin that he wanted to take a bath.

‘Tyree told [Rabb] the blows to [Angel Gonzalez's] head were so severe that he was able to remove an eye from the man’s head along with pieces of brain matter and a piece of his skull,’ the warrant reads, according to the Hartford Courant.

Apparently, he then decided he must get rid of the body, put it into some bags an brought it to a cemetery where another cousin of his was buried. Here, is where he ate the eyeball and stated that it ’tasted like an oyster’. Rabb waited until authorities discovered the body on the Friday after December 16th, and then contacted the authorities to explain what she knew (which was a whole hell of a lot).

The homeless man has now been identified as Angel Gonzalez.
