Girl, 9, Shot By Relative Who Mistook Her in Her Halloween Costume as a Skunk
A 9-year-old girl has been accidentally shot by a relative who thought she was a skunk. Apparently, she was wearing a black dress and black hat with a white tassel outside a Halloween party, which led to the confusion. The male relative saw the young girl and thought she was a skunk, so he pulled out a shotgun and shot her in the shoulder.
According to authorities, the girl was awake and aware as she was being flown to the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, which is just 30 miles away from their home in New Sewickley Township. While you may be assuming that the relative was drinking, the news is reporting that he was not under the influence and we do not know if he will be charged at this time.

Father and Girlfriend Keep 13-Year-Old Caged And Starved Until He Weighed Just 40lbs
The father of a 13-year-old boy and his girlfriend have been arrested after keeping the young teen caged and deprived him of food. Michael Marshall, 38, and his live-in girlfriend, Sharon Glass, 48, were discovered to have kept the boy caged, strapped to a bed, and locked in a bathroom up to weeks at a time. In the end, he was found lying on the bathroom floor weighing only 40 pounds.
Hospital staff said the condition of the child resembled images of ‘concentration camp survivors’. He was severely malnourished and treated for dehydration.
The couple is from Orlando and have been charged with three counts of aggravated child abuse and aggravated child neglect. The police in Titusville went to the home in Brevard County on Thursday evening after they had received a child abuse complaint. While the police were tending to the teen in very poor condition, the couple returned home.
Marshall and Glass confessed to keeping the boy caged as well as punishing him. According to these sick people, they punished the boy for stealing food after he had been denied food for a good amount of time.
The Florida Department of Children and Families has taken the boy into custody, along with two other children living at the home.
They are still trying to investigate whether the other two children had to face the same type of abuse as the 13-year-old teen. Sadly, in many of these cases, one child is singled out, and this seems to be the case in this household as well. What a sad excuse for a father!

UPDATE February 28th, 2012 @ 10:10 AM: Demetrius Hewlin, 16, is the third victim to die after this horrendous shooting. His death was reported just hours after the announcement that King had passed. Hopefully, the bad news and deaths will end here, although this is already a horrible outcome.
Frank Hall, assistant football coach at Chardon High School in Chardon, Ohio, is being identified as the brave adult that chased TJ lane outside of the school, which later led to him surrendering and wounding less individuals than he could have.
Parrot Saves Owner From Being Beat To Death
Jack Dukes was apparently at his home in Fort Smith, Arkansas, when two gentlemen came to his door on Monday morning and had asked to be let inside. Both men knew Dukes by name and he believed one was a neighbor who could have been in some trouble, and so he allowed them to enter his home. Big mistake.
After entering the home, one of the suspects hit Dukes over the head and knocked him down. His beloved macaw, Charlie, decided to make quite a scene when one of the suspects demanding Hydrocodone (Vicodin) picked him up. Charlie even went so far as to bite a chunk of skin from the suspects arms.
Charlie is being hailed as a hero, as he should be, but the parrot isn’t the first to be rewarded for his heroism.
In 2009, Willie the parrot saved a little girl from choking. The bird began flapping its wings and yelling “Mama, baby” to its owner until she returned to the room to find the girl she was babysitting turning blue, according to the Associated Press.
In 2007, a parrot named Peanut imitated the sound of the fire alarm after it went off at 3 a.m. one morning, according to WTHR. The bird’s squawking woke the mother from her sleep. She found the house filled with smoke, grabbed her children and Peanut, and darted out of the house.

VIDEO: Man Rescued After Being Trapped Under Burning Car

Witnesses help lift a burning car off an injured motorcyclist Monday morning in Logan. Credit: Kelley Sandall
A Logan motorcyclist rescued when several good samaritans lifted a burning car off of him remained in critical condition Tuesday but thanked his rescuers.
“I’m just very thankful for everyone that helped me out,” Brandon Wright told The Associated Press by telephone from his hospital bed. “They saved my life.”
Brandon Wright, 21, had been flown to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray shortly after his eastbound motorcycle collided with a BMW sedan about 11:40 a.m. Monday on U.S. Highway 89 in Logan. Tyler Riggs, who identified himself as a cousin of Wright’s, said Tuesday that Wright had undergone surgery Monday night and was expected to recover, though it would be a long recuperation.
Assistant Logan Police Chief Jeff Curtis said the accident occurred when the BMW, exiting a parking lot across the street from the Utah State University campus, drove in front of Wright’s bike. Wright and his bike then slid into and under the car.
The bike caught fire when its gas line ruptured, and the flames spread to the BMW. Passersby saw Wright wedged underneath the car. Several of them, despite the flames, rushed to lift the car off of Wright while others pulled him out by his feet.
“Every one of those people put their lives in danger,” Curtis said to The Associated Press. “Those people are heroes. You can only speculate what the outcome would have been if they had lifted that car and waited for the emergency service personnel to get up there.”
‘Newly Discovered Planet: Hot, Muggy And (Maybe) Liveable’
This entire planet’s weather is strikingly familiar to that of Florida. I have to got to say that so far, I am uninterested; Although, it is a brand new fucking planet.
NPR -
It’s the second planet outside our solar system that seems to be orbiting in “the habitable zone” around its star, according to the European Southern Observatory, which today announced the discovery of HD 85512 b and more than 50 other plants around other stars. In that habitable zone, “water may be present in liquid form if conditions are right,” the ESC adds.
One issue, though, if you don’t like steamy weather: “Temperatures there may range from 85 to 120 degrees with plenty of humidity,” the AP adds.
The news of HD 85512 b’s discovery has been filtering out for a couple weeks. National Geographic wrote about it late last month and offered this cautionary note for all those hoping the planet has or had life:
“Manfred Cuntz, director of the astronomy program at the University of Texas, Arlington, noted that more information is needed before anyone can speculate whether aliens are wandering around the newfound planet.
” ‘It’s not their fault no extra information [about the planet's atmosphere] is available right now,’ Cuntz said of the research team. ‘It looks like this is a strong candidate, in principle.’ ”
DA: Yogurt store owner put naked employee in box
ALHAMBRA, Calif. — The owner of a Southern California yogurt shop has been charged with attacking an employee, removing her clothes, binding her with tape and locking her in a box.
Los Angeles County prosecutors say Robert Yachen Lee allegedly attacked the woman Wednesday morning after luring her into an upstairs storage room at the Monterey Park shop. The woman blacked out. When she woke up she was naked, except for an adult diaper, bound with tape with a collar around her neck and lying face down in a box that had been placed in a soundproofed storage room.
The woman managed to free herself and call police.
Lee was charged Friday with kidnapping to commit rape and attempted murder. He’s being held on $10 million bail.

I really wish there was more to this story because I am left insanely confused. First of all, why the hell did he put a diaper on her? Was he planning on leaving her in there for awhile and didn’t want her to pee in the box? Because that just seems odd. I mean, kidnapping an employee, stripping them and keeping them as a pet in a box is pretty fucking odd too, but what purpose does the diaper serve?
Also, how was she bound? Because she was obviously able to get out pretty easily. Where were you while she was making this escape Mr. Lee? You kidnap someone and then just leave? I need to know more. I am unsatisfied, disturbed, and very confused.
Regardless, you’re a sick piece of shit and I hope to God that while you’re in jail on that $10 million (holy *%$*@&^$ shit!) bond, that you decide to come clean and answer some of the questions I have asked. And, I hope that you’re ass gets raped so hard that you’re forced to wear an adult diaper. Why? You tell me.
Kanye West Booed at Music Fest After He Compares Himself to Hitler
The Hollywood Reporter - Kanye West was met with boos at the Big Chill music fest in England Saturday night.
“I walk through the hotel and I walk down the street, and people look at me like I’m [expletive] insane, like I’m Hitler,” he said on stage, according to the Associated Press as the audience booed. “One day the light will shine through and one day people will understand everything I ever did.”
West also defended his “Monster,” music video, which features girls hanging from their necks and cannibalism.
“Who saw the video before it got banned, before they took it down and before women’s groups starting saying that a person that lost the most important woman in his life is now against women in some way?” asked West, referring to the 2007 death of his mother Donda West.
West apologized for starting 30 minutes late, saying, “Michael Jordan changed so much in basketball, he took his power to make a difference. It’s so much [expletive] going on in music right now and somebody has to make a [expletive] difference,” he said.
West closed his show by paying tribute to Amy Winehouse. He spoke about meeting her during Paris fashion week, and played a few moments from her songs “Tears Dry on Their Own” and “Back to Black.” He called her “beautiful” and “amazing.”
But West closed his show on a positive note by paying tribute to Amy Winehouse.
But then he added, “Thank you for protecting your artists that are still here. This is for [Alexander] McQueen, for Amy, for Michael and for all the media, can you lighten up on all your artists that are still here?”
The crowd, which had booed him earlier, cheered and applauded.
This isn’t the first time the rapper has been met with boos. He was booed at a Chicago Bulls basketball game in February, at the 2010 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade and at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, when he stormed the stage to protest Taylor Swift beating out Beyonce.
