According to BBC’s Article, “Apple has more cash on hand than the United States federal government, according to the company’s financial records.”
Apple’s quarterly financial report shows that the company responsible for the iPad, iPod and the iPhone now has $76.4 billion in reserve cash, while the Treasury Department is sitting on just $73.7 billion.
It seems crazy that our federal government is going through a recession and yet Apple is booming as far as income is concerned. Maybe the treasury department should get together with Apple’s accountants and discuss ways to help themselves (as well of all US citizens) out of this predicament.
Sadly, I understand why this may be occurring. How many people do you see buying iPhone’s, iPad’s, iAnything really? And if it breaks, they may bitch about getting another way due to the price, but they still dish out their money and plug back into the electronic world. Unfortunately, most everyone bitches about taxes, no matter how little or great they are, someone has something to complain about. So, while this is shocking, it’s not at all that surprising.
Fox & Friends hopped into the wayback machine this morning to summon outrage about a post we published 23 days ago. They’re angry—like a lot of people—that we pointed to a man in photos distributed by the White House and AP as the likely head of the operation to kill bin Laden. In expressing that anger, they published a photo of a covert CIA agent. Way to go, Doocy.
Nearly a month ago, we published a photo distributed by the White House showing Barack Obama in the Situation Room during the operation to kill bin Laden. We noted that, based on circumstantial clues in an AP story about “John,” the anonymous CIA analyst who led the search for bin Laden, one of the men standing in the background was almost certainly “John.” (John Young at Cryptome was the first to point this out.)
People were mad! There were angry blog posts! Then the New York Observer announced that it had divined “John’s” identity and published more photos and potentially identifying details, but fell short of outing him. Then everyone continued going on about their lives.
Flash forward more than three weeks to this morning, when Fox News’ Steve Doocy for some strange reason invited former CIA agent Michael Scheuer on for a four-minute segment excoriating Gawker—”this lousy web site”—for “outing” a CIA agent. That’s not quite true, of course—we didn’t know the agent’s name and therefore didn’t publish it, so it was a partial outing at best.
But Doocy, as Mediaite patsy Tommy Christopher noted in the course of lecturing us on journalistic propriety, decided to publish the very same White House photo that we did. Which is an odd decision, seeing as how it features a photo of the very man he was upbraiding us for “outing.” (“We’re not going to identify who he is in that picture,” Doocy tells the audience, which certainly frustrated the efforts of any Islamist spook-hunters out there by keeping the list of potential suspects at an unmanageably high eight possible faces.)
Anyway, he’s there in the photo at the top of this post, right above the chyron reading “Pic of Suspected CIA Staffer Posted on Gawker.” He’s the tall one in the back. What’s worse, Doocy knowingly published an image of a covert agent. As the Observer story on “John” made clear, he was an overt, open, public CIA analyst at the time we published the White House photo featuring his face. His affiliation with the CIA was no secret. But after the Observer began making inquiries about his identity, the Agency suddenly moved him to covert status—apparently in an effort to intimidate the Observer and other news outlets pursuing his identity.
The Intelligence Identities Protection Act makes it a crime to engage in “a pattern of activities intended to identify and expose covert agents,” Steve, so be careful. This is your first strike.
As for our response to Doocy and Christopher’s charges, this disconcertingly fair story on the matter from FoxNews.com, which ran several weeks ago, sums up our arguments.
Thank you again Fox News for making me crack a smile at your ridiculousness. And Gawker is a great site, so you really shouldn’t be so biased as to say it’s not.
This is a truly heartbreaking story about one’s will to survive and fight their hardest. In Swaziland, HIV patients there are forced to eat cow dung mixed with water to fill their stomachs. The medication they take for the HIV will not work on an empty stomach, and many of these people have no money for any extra food, or any at all, for that matter.
Some HIV-positive patients in Swaziland are so poor they have resorted to eating cow dung before taking anti-retroviral drugs, Aids activists say.
Several hundred people protested in the capital, Mbabane, on Wednesday against the economic crisis in the kingdom.
King Mswati III’s government has admitted it is running out of cash.
It has asked neighbouring South Africa for a bailout.
“Some people are now saying they are going to stop taking anti-retroviral drugs because it [requires] that they have food in their stomachs,” he told the BBC’s Focus on Africa programme.
Swaziland, with a population of about 1.2 million, has one of the highest HIV/Aids rates in the world.
About 230,000 people are HIV-positive, of whom 65,000 get free drugs from government hospitals.
Mr Dlamini said the protesters urged the government not to cut health spending.
“We want the government to stick to its word and to prioritise health,” he said.
Last month, MP Joseph Madonsela said state hospitals would run out of anti-retroviral drugs within two months.
This was denied by the government.
The shortage of money forced King Mswati, who is sub-Saharan Africa’s last absolute monarch, to cancel his silver jubilee celebrations this year.
He has an estimated personal wealth of $200m (£122m) and each of his 13 wives has a palace paid for by the state, correspondents say.
It’s sad that the King is unwilling to spend some of his own personal wealth to help his country out of this unlivable situation. The men and women in his country are dying and forced to eat feces and have the highest rate of HIV around, yet he is able to maintain his wealth and provide for 13 wives. Someone needs to overrule this mother fucker and force him to live in the conditions he is forcing on others.
While this news of global warming is good, I also have some fears of how it will affect the positive changes we’ve been making in our environment. I hate to make this issue of global warming a political one, but I am afraid that’s what I feel it is at this point. Since the introduction of global warming, liberals have more so believed that it was occurring, while conservatives, well, were right. I’m afraid that the changes we have made to improve the quality of life here on Earth have been moving forward due to the understanding that global warming was occurring, and was an issue that needed to be addressed. With the new findings, I’m afraid that the conservatives would rather not move forward with such issues because they don’t affect our immediate future, and they would rather see their money spent elsewhere or remain safely in their own pockets.
Anyway, onto the article that sparked this blog:
NASA satellite data from the years 2000 through 2011 show the Earth’s atmosphere is allowing far more heat to be released into space than alarmist computer models have predicted, reports a new study in the peer-reviewed science journal Remote Sensing. The study indicates far less future global warming will occur than United Nations computer models have predicted, and supports prior studies indicating increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide trap far less heat than alarmists have claimed.
“The satellite observations suggest there is much more energy lost to space during and after warming than the climate models show,” Spencer said in a July 26 University of Alabama press release. “There is a huge discrepancy between the data and the forecasts that is especially big over the oceans.”
In addition to finding that far less heat is being trapped than alarmist computer models have predicted, the NASA satellite data show the atmosphere begins shedding heat into space long before United Nations computer models predicted.
The new findings are extremely important and should dramatically alter the global warming debate.
When objective NASA satellite data, reported in a peer-reviewed scientific journal, show a “huge discrepancy” between alarmist climate models and real-world facts, climate scientists, the media and our elected officials would be wise to take notice. Whether or not they do so will tell us a great deal about how honest the purveyors of global warming alarmism truly are.

This is a great article about John C. Favalora, the previous Archbishop Emeritus of Miami.
“Favalora, who was the most powerful Catholic official in Southern Florida from 1994 until last year, stands accused of cultivating what one group of pissed-off Catholics describes as a corrupt ‘homosexual superculture’ in the 195 churches, schools, missions, seminaries, and universities that constitute the Miami Archdiocese.”
LA Times – “There was a shooting at a political camp, which sounds a little like, you know, the Hitler youth. I mean, who does a camp for kids that’s all about politics? Disturbing,” Beck stated in the first minute of his syndicated radio show Monday.
Torbjørn Eriksen, the former press secretary to Norway’s prime minister, was not amused.
Eriksen had stated that beck’s comments were ignorant and hurtful. These are you people trying to gain an education about politics, which is a good thing. The general public should be educated and have the ability to learn the things they wish. Hitler’s Nazi Germany was attempting to brainwash young minds into believing what they believed, not opening up their mind to politics and the many offers they may come across.
I assume he doesn’t understand the concept because, unfortunately, he’s been rather successful with knowing nothing. His ignorance his brought him money and fame and the more people know, the less room there is for people such as himself. Either way, insulting a camp that has just lost a large number of people due to ignorance and hate is rather ridiculous.
The Weed Blog – “In an unprecedented ruling, a Los Angeles court denied a motion by plaintiff & DPFCA member Susan Soares to return her medical marijuana on the grounds that her doctor had not specified a dosage amount or frequency in her recommendation. Soares, who was growing for a local collective, had her medicine seized by hostile police last March, and had petitioned the court for it to be returned after charges against her were dropped.
It is generally the practice of most medical cannabis specialists never to prescribe a dosage quantity. The California Medical Association recommends that physicians never do so, because no dosage guidelines for cannabis have ever been established. Effective dosage varies greatly according to the potency and delivery form of the medication. Patients regularly control their own dosage through self-titration.
In the court’s decision, Judge Antonio Barreto, Jr. declared that ‘as a matter of law’ any recommendation that Soares’ doctor made that does ‘not involve frequency and dosage both is insufficient, period, and does not lead to any lawful possession of any amount of marijuana.’ The judge mysteriously stated that his ruling was based on the Tripett decision. Soares had been growing for several patients, but the court declined to return even six plants for her own individual use.
Soares is seeking legal aid to appeal Barreto’s unprecedented decision.”
A few years back I read a book called ‘The Wanting Seed’ by Anthony Burgess. The novel was based upon a society that was dealing with the consequences of overpopulation far too late and had to deal with it as best as they could. Homosexuality was encouraged as the “normal” sexuality considering that it led to no children. Being straight was viewed as being a rebel, and having a child was seen as being an aggressive rebel who was pointing your finger at authorities waiting for them to eventually strike back.
Buildings in this place were very tall, very close together, and very tiny. You made use of everything in the room and lived with the bare minimum. Having children was seen as taking up more room than you needed. If one was discovered to be pregnant, they could force an abortion upon you just to maintain the already overpopulated species.
Food was another topic that was discussed often in ‘The Wanting Seed’. Except, there were not any fields or crops because there was no space. They had to keep just what they needed to survive. It wasn’t necessarily appetizing, but it held them over. Because of this, people craved variety, and being that they were human, they craved meat. Cannibalism became something that people enjoyed, and others feared.
The prison system was an entirely different issue. There was no justice. There was no room for justice.
As I was first reading this book I became enthralled with the idea that homosexuality had become the acceptable form of sexuality. But unfortunately, when I saw what else had become the “norm”, I quickly realized this was a disgusting place to live.
This isn’t suppose to be about the book, but rather that we are currently facing a problem of overpopulation, and it’s one that isn’t being discussed too often. In fact, I never really even thought about it until I read this book, which to my shock, was written in the 1960′s. Then, today I read an article in the Los Angeles Times that made me think about Anthony Burgess’ book once again and felt I needed to share this.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is a jackass. It’s not like we all didn’t know this already, but I mean to cheat on your wife with the a woman who has been working in YOUR home and FATHER a child and then deny her financial support, that’s just fucking low.
I never quite understood why she would even get with him after one of his goals was to marry a Kennedy, but for whatever reason, she did, and she mothered two children of his and did it faithfully (as far as we know).
HearldOnline – “The former couple does not have a prenuptial agreement, according to their filings. That means Shriver would be entitled to half of Schwarzenegger’s assets under California law, although the exact terms were expected to be set through private mediation.”
No prenup?! She better get her money and make his sorry ass pay for the shit he’s put her through. He got his Kennedy for long enough. Run with the money and never look back at his pathetically fake political ass.
