[VIDEO] Gangnam Style: Christmas Light Show

I love when people take the time to go all out for Christmas. And although this song is now ridiculously annoying, the light show itself is pretty damn awesome.

YouTube:

It’s not quite a Christmas song, but when I heard it in August, I figured it would be a fun song to synchronize my lights to. Many all-nighters and even more gray hairs later, our show is finally running. This is the 5th and final song in our 3rd annual light show this year. 384 channels controlling over 60,000 LEDs, plus a few incan.

[UPDATED] Mallory Owens Now Fears For Her Life: Lesbian Brutally Beat By Girlfriend’s Brother On Thanksgiving

UPDATE: Saturday, December 1st, 2012 @ 2:00AM – Mallory Owens has released a statement and is no longer claiming that it was NOT a hate crime. In fact, she believes the entire Hawkins family has manipulated her. Here is her statement:

I am represented by attorney Christine Hernandez. I am supported by my family, friends, several organizations including Equality Alabama and GLAAD as well as numerous other individuals who have offered a multitude of support to myself and my family including all of those that have donated to help me with my medical expenses. For all of you that have supported me, I am very grateful.

The last week has been the most traumatic several days I have ever experienced, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Not just for me, but for my family as well. Fortunately, we are a strong family, and we are sticking together as a family.  On Thanksgiving Day, I visited the Hawkins’ home, the family home of my girlfriend Ally Hawkins. As I was leaving, I was brutally attacked by Travis Hawkins Jr., Ally’s brother. I believe that he intended to kill me. I was defenseless against him. This was not the first time Travis Hawkins Jr. attacked me and sent me to the hospital.

Travis Hawkins Jr. has been charged with Assault Second Degree by the District Attorney’s office. Although, I appreciate all the efforts of the hospital and EMS staff, police, all the investigators, and District Attorney Ashley Rich, neither I nor my family agree that Assault Second Degree is the right charge. We are very hopeful and optimistic that as Ms. Rich, her office and the police continue to investigate this crime, that the charges will be upgraded to attempted Murder. I was unconscious when the beating ended. I do not know what stopped him. I do know he has threatened to kill me before, he has attacked me with a metal pipe before, and on Thanksgiving Day he launched an unprovoked attack on me that left me unconscious, hospitalized, suffering horrific head trauma, severe injuries and in need of surgery and additional treatment. Since the attack, Travis Hawkins Jr. has been seen following my family and appearing at locations where they have gathered. He has threatened to finish me off. I believe as long as he is free on bond that my life continues to be in danger. Even beyond the physical harm, I am quite traumatized. I am afraid and I feel that I have been victimized repeatedly by the Hawkins family.

The interview at the Hawkins home was not requested by me, nor was I aware that the media would be at the Hawkins home. I was brought back to the home by Ally Hawkins. I wanted to be in my own apartment. Mr. Hawkins Sr. insisted we give the interview and statements were made. I believe Mr. Hawkins Sr. is very manipulative, I believe he organized the family and orchestrated the media representation to portray himself in a better light. I do not feel safe there. I was very uneasy and nervous while I was there. I was still very disoriented, weak, and intimidated. Mr. Hawkins Sr. has also threatened me with harm based on my relationship with his daughter. Travis Hawkins Sr. threatened me with a metal pipe while I was waiting in the car on a prior occasion. Travis Hawkins Jr. used a metal pipe to assault me on a prior occasion. He and his son pose a very real threat. I will not go back there.

It will be a very long time before I feel safe again. This sort of attack whether it is proven to be a hate crime or a crime derived from one man’s hate of another human being should not happen to anyone in this country. No one should have to endure an attack the way that I did. Neither should a mother have to see her daughter in the state that my mom had to see me.

During this investigation, many statements were made to the media, some were premature and misguided. All of us involved have been at the center of a huge media storm. At this time, we want to let the investigation continue and we need to heal. Ally Hawkins has continued to release statements and make arbitrary facebook posts and she has even offered a motive for her brother’s actions. Please know that Ally Hawkins is NOT SPEAKING for me, she is NOT representing me in the media in any way. Her statements and public posts on facebook or any other form of social media are NOT representative of my opinions, beliefs or words.

I am fortunate that my family’s love for me is unconditional. I fell in love with a girl. My family loves, accepts and supports me. They have shown nothing but love and acceptance throughout my attack, my time in the hospital, and the investigation of this brutal attack, they have been there for me, loving me and supporting me. I want to thank and publicly show my appreciation for my mom, my brother and sister, my Uncle Ricky, Linda, my grandma. Besides the countless individuals who have offered their support financially and in words of kindness, I also want to thank organizations like Equality Alabama and GLAAD for offering their direct support to me and my family, as well as working to create a culture in Alabama where people aren’t attacked for being who they are and loving who they love. Thank you to all those who have prayed, supported and advocated for myself and my family. For those of you who pray, we ask you to continue to pray for us as we heal.

UPDATE: Wednesday November 28th, 2012 @ 10:30 AM – This story is very confusing. Apparently, Mallory Owens and her fiancé Ally (Alex) Hawkins, do not believe it is a hate crime. They have told news sources that they know why he did what he did, and it would come out eventually. According to Ally Hawkins, it’s too embarrassing to share, but is bound to come out at Travis Hawkins’ court hearing on December 10th, 2012. In fact, Mallory Owens is spending her time recovering at the home where she was allegedly (pretty clear she was) beaten. I will do my best to keep everyone updated as I hear more.

UPDATE: Tuesday, November 27th, 2012 – Mallory and Alex “Ally” are actually engaged. I’ve done a bit of research and they seemed to be very happy about their relationship and had no discrepancies with sharing how they felt with the world. At the bottom of this page is a very sweet photo of the two of them, along with some words they shared with one another. Please wish the best for Mallory Owens, who is still in the hospital. And who knows, maybe one day these two will actually be able to get married :)

The other day, I saw a photo being shared like crazy all over FaceBook. I wanted to get more information before relaying it, but I am shocked that something like this could happen to a beautiful young lady who was trying to be optimistic about her relationship and the family on whom she was involved with.
Mallory Owens went to Thanksgiving dinner at her girlfriend, Alex Hawkins’, place in Mobile, Alabama. The brother of Alex, Travis Hawkins, did not approve of the relationship that his sister and Mallory shared, and took it upon himself to punish who he felt was responsible, Miss Owens. After dinner, he approached Mallory and began beating her with his fists. Sadly, some people assumed this may be the outcome, including the victim’s mother.

‘He tried to kill her. He’s lucky he didn’t kill her. She’s lucky to be alive. I didn’t recognize her when I got here. It’s hard to look at her like that.’ – Kristi Taylor, Owens mother.

While this crime is horrific in itself, Travis Hawkins will not be charged with a hate crime. Alabama law doesn’t include sexual orientation among bias offenses, according to the Anti-Defamation League. I was appalled to hear this. Here we are fighting for the right to marry the ones we love, and yet, Alabama and 26 other states are also without hate crime laws that protect the LGBT community.

Mallory Owens has unfortunately already had to deal with abuse at the hands of Travis Hawkins. Earlier this year, he hit Owens over the head with a pipe wrench. Although she was injured, no charges were filed, and I can only assume she was hoping that they could work through that incident and move towards acceptance. Optimism was apparently not such a good idea with this family.

‘I did not want her to go, I begged her not to go, knowing how the family felt about her. But she said, “They’re trying to be nice.”

Shortly after being charged with second-degree assault, the assailant was bonded out. Hawkins also called Owens’ sister on Friday, proving that the charges had no effect on him once so ever.

Miss Owens’ sister Avery Godwin told AL.com that Hawkins called her on Friday to say ‘that he would finish what he started last night with Mallory.’

The fact that this kid has assaulted a female twice, the second time being much more severe, and stated that he wasn’t finished means that the second-degree assault charge is absolutely absurd. How is this not attempted murder?! And how do states not have hate crime laws that include the LGBT community?! If someone is hurting you simply because they dislike something about you, that is a hate crime. Simple. A young girl was BRUTALLY beaten at her girlfriend’s home on Thanksgiving day because she was dating the guy’s sister. This kid, not man, is a complete moron with no compassion. I’m not shocked unfortunately, due to his families history.

Last year, Hawkins was hospitalized after he was allegedly shot in the chest by his father, Travis Hawkins Sr.

Happy Thanksgiving!

[VIDEO] Hidden Camera Prank on Kids Attempts to Explain Taxes Before Election

Screen shot 2012-10-31 at 11.20.13 AM

A friend of mine shared this video on FaceBook and I was hesitant to even watch. In this video, Steven Crowder, attempts to explain the tax system to children with their Halloween candy. This video is meant to show children that if you work hard for your candy, you can still have it taken away and given to someone with less candy, even though you may have worked harder for yours. While this may have been a clever idea, you must also take into consideration where the children are trick or treating

What if some kids had gone to hundreds of houses that no longer gave out candy; Did they not still work hard? No, they did work hard, but didn’t reap any of the benefits. Yet, there are some kids who have parents that take them to the rich neighborhoods or LIVE in the rich neighborhoods. The kids that work hard in these higher end neighborhoods will most likely get a lot of candy. Also, the kids in these neighborhoods that don’t work as hard will probably still get candy. I feel this is a better representation of our tax system. Some people are more fortunate than others and have a better opportunity of ensuring their wealth and/or candy. Just because the skit makes it seem black and white doesn’t necessarily mean it is.

I can’t say I’m too shocked that Crowder was the creator of this video, especially considering his ABOUT ME section on YouTube:

Girl, 9, Shot By Relative Who Mistook Her in Her Halloween Costume as a Skunk

skunk200x200

A 9-year-old girl has been accidentally shot by a relative who thought she was a skunk. Apparently, she was wearing a black dress and black hat with a white tassel outside a Halloween party, which led to the confusion. The male relative saw the young girl and thought she was a skunk, so he pulled out a shotgun and shot her in the shoulder.

According to authorities, the girl was awake and aware as she was being flown to the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, which is just 30 miles away from their home in New Sewickley Township. While you may be assuming that the relative was drinking, the news is reporting that he was not under the influence and we do not know if he will be charged at this time.

[VIDEO] Straight Christian Man Who Believes Homosexuality is Sin Goes Undercover as Gay Man For a Year

article-2216186-1574BFB4000005DC-742_634x481

Timothy Kurek, 26, is a brave and righteous man because of what he did, all on his own. This straight Christian man was told by a friend of his that she was a lesbian;  Thanks to that moment, he started to realize that he may not be right about his homophobia or his religious stance on being gay.

He took himself on a year-long journey where he ‘came out’ to friends and family, despite the fact that he was not actually gay. Although he told his mom and heard her reaction, he wanted to know how she really felt, and got his answer after reading some of her journal. (which is sneaky, not wrong, according to the 10 commandments)

‘I’d rather have found out from a doctor that I had terminal cancer than have a gay son,’ she’d written.

Ironically, this is what he should have expected, seeing as he grew up in this household, where this was what being gay meant, utter disappointment and disbelief. For him, he was able to overcome his fear and hatred to learn a valuable lesson in life.

The Cross in the Closet, the book that Kurek wrote, is being released today, National Coming Out Day. A percent of all the sales will go to an organization that helps homeless LGBT youth, which shows the transformation that has come from his year undercover.

The young journalist even went so far as to ask a man to be his pretend boyfriend. Shawn was a ’big, black burly teddy bear’ and Kurek was able to confide in him and even care about this man, his new friend.

‘I needed protection to keep me balanced and teach me the nuances of gay culture and how they flirt, and to give me an excuse when guys hit on me,’ he said.

[He was] ’the first gay person that I let into my heart. He was totally there for me through emotional turmoil. I trusted him.

Before Kurek embarked on this journey he said that the idea of even being around gay people repulsed him. After the journey, he said there is no lingering homophobia once so ever.

Sadly, Kurek wasn’t quite ready for the loneliness he felt and the sheer abandonment of those he loved.

‘The thing that struck me most was the isolation,’ he said. ‘Before I came out as gay, I had a very busy social life. After I came out, I didn’t hear from 95 percent of my friends.’

DailyMail: Rev. Connie Waters, a protestant minister and supporter of LGBT rights from Memphis, first met Kurek online while debating his church’s stance on homosexuality.

She called his year undercover a life-changing transformation.

‘It’s what you hope for – the goal of the Christian walk of faith,’ she said. ‘It’s enough for me that he transformed, but if others learn from him, what an extra blessing that is.’

Planned Parenthood Celebrates National Masturbation Month

Life Site News -

May 21, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A Florida Planned Parenthood affiliate has taken the opportunity of “National Masturbation Month” to highlight the national organization’s promotion of masturbation as part of a “a common and safe kind of sex play” with “many health benefits.”

On Friday, Planned Parenthood of Southwest and Central Florida tweeted, “Happy Masturbation Month! We’ve got lots of info on masturbation here,” providing a link to Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s page on masturbation.

There, Planned Parenthood states that “there are many harmful myths about masturbation that may cause us to feel uncomfortable about it. These myths can cause guilt, shame, and fear. Let’s get the facts straight. Masturbation is a natural and common activity for both women and men.”

Personally, I think this is a great idea. You don’t know how many times while growing up I wanted to know what masturbating was and how to do it. It’s such a touchy subject (get it?) and many people are ashamed or afraid to ask other people what masturbation involves. I seriously thought I was crazy because I enjoyed it so much and never heard anybody else mentioning how amazing masturbation felt, then I started not caring and talking about it. Ironically, once I started talking about it, I came to realize that everyone enjoys it. I mean, who wouldn’t enjoy giving themselves the most amazing sensation they’ve ever had and the ability to do it in the comfort of their own home?

“National Masturbation Month” was first announced in 1995 by the San Francisco-based sex-toy shop Good Vibrations. The month-long celebration includes the annual “Masturbate-a-Thon” to raise funds for sex education. Individuals participate in competitions, either by webcam or in person, based on “longest duration spent masturbating and most orgasms.”

Okay, well this isn’t something I think we should share with young people; They just perform sexual acts on themselves and share it with others, a.k.a. porn. Granted, they are raising money for sex education, and that, is a great contribution.

Jim Sedlak of Stop Planned Parenthood (STOPP), a project of the American Life League, said that endorsing the “gateway drug” of masturbation was of a piece with Planned Parenthood’s ideology on sex education.

Gateway drug?! Are you fucking kidding me?! Being sexually active is not a crime! Exploring one’s self and knowing how to control your body and your responses to stimulation should not be considered a bad thing. EVERYONE masturbates, and if they don’t, they’ve had their perceptions of masturbation warped by people, such as Jim Sedlak. It’s this very reason that children begin to feel ashamed, guilty, and dirty. We are born with curiosity, and saying that being curious about our bodies is sinful, is stunting the growth of that person.

“Planned Parenthood is an organization that makes its money from people involved in sex,” Sedlak told LifeSiteNews.com in an email. “Although Planned Parenthood pushes masturbation for all, it particularly targets young people with the message. It is a way to get these young kids involved in a sexual lifestyle.”

Sedlak said that youths buy the idea of masturbation as “risk-free” sex but end up “hooked on sexual stimulation as a way to escape their problems.” Especially alarming is how masturbation at an early age has been shown to interfere with a child’s ability to develop compassion and to learn—effects seen in children who regularly masturbate as young as six years old.

The parenting section of Planned Parenthood’s website tells parents to encourage elementary-age children to experiment with masturbation.

If you think this sounds young, you’re forgetting the small things you did as a child to make that good feeling come about. Don’t act like you’ve never humped a pillow, stroked your best friend (penis), or any other variation of masturbating, because I will not believe you in the slightest.

“Kids begin to want additional sexual experiences, and Planned Parenthood is there to sell them products and to make millions from them,” said Sedlak.

Yes, Planned Parenthood’s goal is to become filthy rich with all the whores they’ve encouraged to sleep around. It’s an ingenious plan, really. Sadly, they’ve been around since 1942 and are a non-profit organization so making millions seems rather unfathomable. But, what do I know? I’m just a female who experimented with masturbation at a young age, have a healthy sex life, no venereal diseases, never been pregnant and is politically involved in following what’s been going on with Planned Parenthood and those that oppose the organization.
