[UPDATE] [VIDEO] Shooting At Ohio High School Leaves 4 Wounded, 1 Dead, Suspect In Custody
UPDATE February 28th, 2012 @ 10:10 AM: Demetrius Hewlin, 16, is the third victim to die after this horrendous shooting. His death was reported just hours after the announcement that King had passed. Hopefully, the bad news and deaths will end here, although this is already a horrible outcome.
Frank Hall, assistant football coach at Chardon High School in Chardon, Ohio, is being identified as the brave adult that chased TJ lane outside of the school, which later led to him surrendering and wounding less individuals than he could have.
UPDATE February 28th, 2012 @ 9:31 AM: 2nd Victim has been confirmed as brain dead as a result of TJ Lane’s shooting spree. This student is said to be Russell King Jr. Apparently it was unclear whether King remained on life support; the statement said he was both deceased and brain dead.
“The cause and manner of death of this case are under on-going investigation and will be released upon completion,” Shannon said
King was 17-years-old.
UPDATE February 27th, 2012 @ 1:11 PM: Danny Komertz was a student at Chardon High School and said that he had seen the shooter, Mr. Lane, point the gun directly at a group of students before shooting.
“I looked straight ahead and I saw a gun pointing at a group of four guys sitting at a table and he was maybe two feet away from them,” Komertz said. “He just fired two quick shots at them. I saw one student fall. I saw the other hiding, trying to get cover underneath the table.”
Komertz also stated that he believed that the shooter was targeting these individuals by the way he was acting.
“It was clearly to me that he was aiming right at them,” Komertz told CNN. “He wasn’t shooting around the cafeteria at all. He was directly aiming at the four of them.”
According to the DailyCaller, A FaceBook page that is believed to be TJ Lane’s has an essay posted that he claims to have written. It seems to be a fantasy where a massacre is described and in the end it states, “Die, all of you.”
The essay is about a “mistreated” man who revenges himself by taking out all of the “selfish and conceited.”
“He longed for only one thing, the world to bow at his feet,” the posting reads. “They too should feel his secret fear. The dismal drear.”
“So, to the castle he proceeds, like an ominous breeze through the trees. ‘Stay back!’ The Guards screamed as they were thrown to their knees. ‘Oh God, have mercy, please!’”
UPDATE February 27th, 2012 @ 10:48 AM: The shooter has now been identified as Junior classmate, Thomas J. Lane. The victim who passed away has been identified as Daniel Parmertor. Photos below:
UPDATE February 27th, 2012 @ 9:57 AM: One Student who was taken to the hospital is now being reported as dead. The suspect’s name is not being released because he is a juvenile and he hasn’t yet been charged with the death of one of his victims. More information to come throughout the day…
At Chardon High School in Ohio this morning, February 27th, 2012, a gunman shot and injured five people. No one has been reported dead, which is a huge relief to many parents who send their children to this very school.
The shooter was apparently chased from the building and surrendered, Geauga County Sheriff Dan McClelland told reporters in a televised news conference outside Chardon High School about 30 miles east of Cleveland.
The gunman walked into the school cafeteria with about 1,100 students around 7:30am and began shooting. Although they believe that the only shootings that occurred were in the cafeteria, they did find students that were shot in three different areas of the school. This, is most likely due to the fact that when someone shoots you, you run away.
The victims included four boys and one girl. Thankfully, a teacher chased the gunman away before he could do any more damage. That has to be one of the boldest moves a teacher could make in a situation like that.
Please note in the picture below that although the mother is thrilled her boy is alive and shows him so by hugging him, he is still a 9th grade boy who seems embarrassed by the affection his mom is showing him. Now, the photo is going viral, thanks to others like me.
